Reginald Mason is wealthy, refined, and, by all accounts, a gentleman. However, he is not a gentleman by birth, a factor that pains him and his father, Bernard Mason, within the Regency society that upholds station over all else. That is, until an opportunity for social advancement arises, namely, Lady Annabelle Ashton.

This is a lovely little tale. Good narration. I'm glad Balaogh did not embellish this with a lot of uncecessary details.

In this classic 19th-century story of love battling pride, we meet Elizabeth Bennet. Elizabeth is a smart, well-rounded woman, and she is one of five unmarried daughters of Mr. Bennet, a country gentleman. Marriage is at the forefront Mrs. Bennet's mind, especially since her elderly husband's estate will not pass down to any of their daughters. The Bennets' small town is in an uproar when two highborn, eligible gentlemen, Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy, come to stay.

The fairy tale courtship did not turn into a happily-ever-after. Not until her husband dropped dead, that is. He had been horrible enough to Christiana during their short marriage, and she was not going to allow the traditional period of mourning to ruin her sisters' debuts as well. So she decides to put him on ice and go on as if nothing's happened.... Until the real earl appears.

Rosalyn Landor does her usual excellent job with narrating, but even she can't save lackluster writing. There is no real conflict. The heroine has had a body image issue for almost thirty years, but the hero has her overcoming it in three months.

All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention. But on this dazzling afternoon, one woman did catch the duke's eye - and she was the only female in the room who wasn't even trying.

W ufric's story is well-done. I would have been so disappointed if the object of his affections would have been a prim and boring miss. Luckily the lovers are matched well. A fitting wrap up to this Slightly series. And Ms Landor's narration is superb as usual!

I was looking forward to this story of Devil Cynter's offspring, but frankly I I was bored. There was way too much of Sebastian's inner dialogue and not enough actual dialogue. It would have been better as a short story or novella. There's not much substance here.

But even she never thought that she would become a social pariah, an outcast fending for herself on the mean streets of London. I had to start it over to get after a couple of chapters to get the names straight in my head, but once I had them down , it was a great story and a wonderful listen over the holidays. The whodunit was more than enough keep me interested. Although being on Audible as a "historical romance", it has very little romance. It is a well-written "historical mystery ".

England, 1333. The chink in Baron Boursier's armor is his fondness for a lovely face. When it costs him half his sight and brands him as one who abuses women, he vows to never again be "blinded" by beauty. Thus, given the choice between forfeiting his lands and wedding one of his enemies to end their feud, he chooses as his betrothed the lady said to be plain of face, rejecting the lady rumored to be most fair.

It's 1825 in London, and the two curvaceous and blonde 23-year-old Cynster twins, Amanda and Ameliaare, are desperate to get married. All they need are two fine, strapping gentlemen - preferably with large purses.

So what do these two lusty young ladies do?They make a visit to the local gaming halls, of course!

This story goes nowhere. There is no tension between the main characters, and there's no real plot outside of the one the female lead lets us know about in the first two minutes. This makes for a predictable --not steamy-- stream of love scenes. Save you credits.
