"Well written , Keeps you engaged througout"
A very well written book, as good if not better than the first book. Great narration as well. I think this book would interest anyone in health care profession obviously. But, I am sure it would interest non health care professional reades as much.
A liked how he ended the book with some great but simple suggestions for his readers to be become what he call a positive deviant : Ask, Do not complain, Count, Write and Change.
"Inspiring, Informative and Interesting"
I think the author captures the essence of Steve Jobs very well. It seemed to me the author did justice to the story of Jobs. Managed to keep it real and authentic but still narrated the charisma of Steve and Apple very well
I loved his performance
iThink Different
"Simple yet profound idea. Very well presented."
Once again, Atul Gawande has put forth a very impressive narrative. Yes, people associated with medicine would like this book but, the premise of this book reaches far beyond that. Dr. Gawande has put his argument in the book in a lucid and convincing manner. If you have ever asked :How can I do my tasks a little better? Checklist Manifesto is your answer! The book has made a profound change in how I think about my day to day tasks.
"Transports you to a different world"
Wonderfully written saga, takes the audience to a whole new world. Having read other books by the same author, it seems like this novel is in part a biography.Verghese has been able to weave a very interesting background for his characters. I think the story dragged to start with but soon enough it got very enjoyable. Good Narration as well.
"Very Engaging"
Some listeners found the book too simplistic. But, that was precisely why i liked it. I felt that his simple, engaging narrative makes the rather complex ideas very easy to understand, absorb and remember.I went back and listened to his previous two books and I liked those too. But, I enjoyed this one the most. Besides, the author narrating the book makes it even more enjoyable.
"Excellent book , Very well Narrated"
It is very rare that one gets to an audiobook which gives the listener an experience which is equal or better than reading the book itself. This book is very much like that. Very well constructed narration which gives us glimpses into the authors life without getting preachy or full of self pity. It left me feeling positive about myself and human nature in general. I would highly recommend this book . Its a great book to gift as well.
"A slow start but keeps getting better"
I bought this book on an impluse. I had read his "Suitable Boy" and jumped at a chance to read his latest book. I think he is a fine author. I must say I did not enjoy this book as much as I had liked "Suitable Boy" but then I think a comparison between those two books is unfair. This book is more personal and therefore more 'real'. The narration by Vikram Seth is very engaging. I think this book would be enjoyed by all those who have read Vikram Seth before. This book gives you an insight into the author himself. Its almost like having a chance to meet the author in person and getting to know him.
If you like fiction, if you have read Vikram Seth before, I am sure you will enjoy this book.
"Not half as good as Fast Food Nation"
I bought this book with hig expectations. I was very impressed with the previous book by this author "Fast Food Nation" . I found this book a little too tedious and lengthy. I think an abriged version of this book might be a better "read". But, the biggest letdown was the narration. The narator of Fast Food Nation was very good, he kept the listner engaged with his enthusiatic style. Eric the author himself narrates this book and I found him very monotonous and boring.
