Allie Finkle's starting her first day of school at Pine Heights Elementary! Plus, she's getting a new kitten, the first pick of show cat Lady Serena Archibald's litter! But being the New Girl is turning out to be scary, too, especially since one of the girls in Allie's new class - Rosemary - doesn't like her. In fact, Roesmary says she's going to beat Allie up after school. Everyone seems to have an opinion on how Allie should handle the situation. How can Allie tell who's right?

  • iWoz: How I Invented the Personal Computer and Had Fun Along the Way

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Steve Wozniak, Gina Smith
    • Narrated By Patrick Lawlor
    Overall
    (2377)
    Performance
    (1370)
    Story
    (1395)

Before cell phones that fit in the palm of your hand and slim laptops that fit snugly into briefcases, computers were like strange, alien vending machines. They had cryptic switches, punch cards, and pages of encoded output. But in 1975, a young engineering wizard named Steve Wozniak had an idea: What if you combined computer circuitry with a regular typewriter keyboard and a video screen?

    "Conceited or Unaware"
    Overall

I'm not sure if Woz meant to sound so conceited or if that is just how he tells stories. His stories about his interest in engineering were well done. I was hoping for more info on Apple and less on his practical jokes. Woz is truly a geek.

  • Why We Suck

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By Dr. Denis Leary
    • Narrated By Dr. Denis Leary
    Overall
    (410)
    Performance
    (151)
    Story
    (150)

In Why We Suck, Dr. Denis Leary uses his common sense, and his biting and hilarious take on the world, to attack the politically correct, the hypocritical, the obese, the thin - basically everyone who takes themselves too seriously. He does so with the extra oomph of a doctorate bestowed upon him by his alma mater Emerson College. "Sure it's just a celebrity type of thing - they only gave it to me because I'm famous." Leary explains.

    C. Byrnes says: "Laughed Out Loud Bunches"
    "Quick and Funny"
    Overall

Dr. Dennis Leary discusses his upbringing and the American way of life in his own funny way. He goes a bit over the line a few times but it is still worth spending an afternoon to listen to.

Greta says: "Get the "Paper Book" instead."
    "Great Book"
    Overall

I read David Allen's book and then got the audiobook. I have been using the Getting Things Done (GTD) system for the last year and it has done exactly as advertised. I am more in control of my tasks and my stress has been reduced.
