I have read all of Vince Flynn's books several times. The characters are well delineated, the dialogue is crisp and the plot details well formulated and clearly explained. This "Abridgement" chops out the defining character development (e.g Irene Kennedy), and completely annihilates the plot sequences, making it impossible to comprehend anyone's motivation, planning and follow-through. What make Vince Flynn's books so appealing is how true-to-life his characters are and how admirable Mitch Rapp is. This abridgement leaves out Mitch's thought processes, Irene Kennedy's input, and the tension between the vice-president's advisor and everyone else. It's clear to me that whoever sliced and diced this abridgement has no feeling for the genre, and views "military-types" as two-dimensional. Shame on you and your team!! Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series is heart-warming and encouraging in these troubled times. I read them as an antidote to the nightly news. Namby-pamby "girly men" get their come uppance and wrongs are righted. Truth, Jstice and the American Way prevail! Mitch Rapp and his Special Forces friends are the real Supermen of our generation!! Audio Books should dump this shameful abridgemnet and get George Guidall to read the full-length version! (Oh yeah!)
I'm a teacher, researcher and writer who comes from a family of university profs and deans. Major surgery had me bedridden for quite a while so I turned to Audible for entertainment. I've listened to A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness eight times . . . so far . . .and thoroughly enjoyed it each time! Well done, Ms. Harkness!
A feast for the mind. I find something new with each listen,
Jennifer Ikeda's reading is nearly flawless . . . and considering how many people-types and nationalities she has to convey as well as many languages to pronounce, that is not easily done.
Can't wait for the next one!
C.S. Lewis is a master at making complex truths easy for us regular folk to understand. I have enjoyed (with much enthusiasm) every one of his books I've downloaded here so far, but the sound quality of this edition of "The Four Loves" is so poor I can't clearly hear his words.
There was no "enhanced version" option for this broadcast. (I guess that's why the price was so low.)
I will only choose books with "enhanced" versions from now on!!
