A compelling listen as the tension builds and the plot unfolds. One of his best.
How this twaddle ever got a rave review puzzles me. No apparent continuity and just another story about men who run around London chewing other peoples' necks and sucking blood. Hohum.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this reading of a classic text that I last read 45 years ago. Ultra fresh and ultra funny.
Started off slow but the tension built listening to this utterly ridiculous but wonderful story. More from this writer SOON.
How refreshing to go back to le Carre's early writing and listen to this. The performance is gripping -- I couldn't listen to the end knowing the outcome as it was too stressful.
I have read all in this series and am waiting for the next as Isabel's life unfolds. McCall Smith is a great story teller and the endings are always positive.
I am agog at Thubron's travels and this one is a cracker. Waiting for more of his excellence.
I have listened to all of this series with joy. Part of the magic is that this Scottish academic's writing and Andoh's narration make the series sound utterly realistically Namibian.
Incredible twists in each plot that left me in awe of his writing and coupled with his laconic reading, this is one of Audible's treasures.
What a great fantasy this is -- converting sand into salmon runs and the characters are both remarkable yet credible. Top listen.
As consistently good as his earlier work, Carey weaves a great, wonderfully written, dual-time story.
