Millions of fans of Little House on the Prairie believe they know Laura Ingalls - the pioneer girl who survived blizzards and near-starvation on the Great Plains, and the woman who wrote the famous autobiographical books. But the true story of her life has never been fully told. Now, drawing on unpublished manuscripts, letters, diaries, and land and financial records, Caroline Fraser masterfully fills in the gaps in Wilder's biography.

    Story

This text can be broken into two parts. The 1st part talks about Laura's youth and where the series took some liberties. The 2nd part talks about her adult life going into her daughter rose's life discussing how the books came into being and what has happened since the family all passed away legally In terms of the rights to the books. It is an excellent listen and I was captivated with all of the behind the scenes information. it made me hope that someone would attempt a new little house series that is accurate to Laura's writings. a must-listen for all Wilder fans.

Best-selling author, former White House speechwriter, and Atlantic columnist and media commentator David Frum explains why President Trump has undermined our most important institutions in ways even the most critical media has missed, in this thoughtful and hard-hitting book that is a warning for democracy and America's future. Quietly, steadily, Trump and his administration are damaging the tenets and accepted practices of American democracy, perhaps irrevocably.

I enjoyed every moment of this very moving text. Anyone who enjoyed "The Nightingale" will enjoy this title as well.

I do not want to give anything away - save one small statement. 17 years ago I took a course about the History of the Holocaust. In that class, we learned about a very important figure in the Nuremburg trials - lawyer Benjamin Ferencz. Ferencz was instrumental in developing the International Criminal Court, a court that the United States left in the Bush years as we did not want to be held to the same standard. That court is still functional and working to bring those who commit crimes against humanity to justice. If nothing else, read this in the memory of all of those around the world who still endure torture, fear, and distress at the hands of their government. This book will not disappoint.

While scores of books have been written about Elvis Presley, this is the first meticulously researched biography of Tom Parker written by someone who knew him personally. And for anyone truly interested in the performer many consider the greatest and most influential of the 20th century, it is impossible to understand how Elvis came to be such a phenomenon without examining the life and mind of Parker, the man who virtually controlled Elvis' every move.

    Story

I have been a fan of Alanna Nash's books covering Elvis Presley for several years. I have read many Elvis novels, and her work is always expertly researched and honest yet gentle with this family that so many of us around the world know and love. This is the first of her novel's that has made it to the audible audiobook library in recent years, and it is AWESOME. Alanna gives a wonderful introduction and her narrator - Gibson Frazier is fabulous. He performs the voices of the characters with an authenticity that pulled me right into the reading of this book. I listened to it over a 48 hour time frame because it was so well done. Indeed, I found myself wondering what Gibson would do if he were to narrate the Memphis Mafia text that Alanna wrote... (no pressure Alanna).

Having lived in the world of Elvis fandom all of my 40 years that I have been alive, I know I can issue all kinds of judgements and statements about what I think went on between Elvis, the Colonel, EPE, Priscilla, etc. and have 10 people come at me with facts and figures that will make me want to delete this very review. Indeed, it is amazing how many Elvis experts there are today with the rise of social media and the ability to google every topic our little hearts want to know more about. That being said, this text was originally published in the early 2000's after Alanna had put at least six years of research into it. So if I am going to go with an authentic Elvis expert who I KNOW walked where Elvis walked - I will go with Alanna Nash each and every time.

Bravo Alanna! Thank you for getting this to audible for us, and I can't wait for the next one to make its way here!

Don't just walk away from this book...RUN.

From New York to Paris, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald reigned as king and queen of the Jazz Age, seeming to float on champagne bubbles above the mundane cares of the world. But to those who truly knew them, the endless parties were only a distraction from their inner turmoil and from a love that united them with a scorching intensity.

It took a lot of guts for Zelda Fitzgerald to live her life as wild and freely as she did. It took even more guts to write this book.

I love Zelda and Scott. They weren't perfect. I don't know anyone who meets that criteria in real life anyway... So it wasn't the liberties taken with the content that bothered me. In fact, most would argue that Scott and Zelda were much wilder than this book describes. What bothered me was the fact that the nurse 'narrator' seemed to have more mental health issues than Zelda did. Then I began to question my own sanity. Then I slowly, carefully deleted this book from my library.

Nadia Murad was born and raised in Kocho, a small village of farmers and shepherds in Northern Iraq. A member of the Yazidi community, she and her brothers and sisters lived a quiet life. Nadia had dreams of becoming a history teacher or opening her own beauty salon. On August 15, 2014, when Nadia was just 21 years old, this life ended. Islamic State militants massacred the people of her village, executing men who refused to convert to Islam and women too old to become sex slaves.

One of the most common refrains I hear as an American is this: "The Middle Easterners have been killing themselves and each other for thousands of years. There is nothing we can do about it but let them do it." That is a statement people made when the Nazi's marched through Europe, and for many years religious based genocide was ignored. Reading this book demonstrates the monster that is Isis, and that their reach is far more vast and frightening than we can even begin to realize. This text is an absolute must read for anyone who cares about the political world and religious freedom at all. It will forever change you as it has me.

What made the experience of listening to Devil's Bargain the most enjoyable?

I wanted to know more about Donald Trump and the team that is running my beloved country. It was interesting to learn Steve Bannon's background and to have an insiders view to him as well as a better understanding of Sean Spicer.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Devil's Bargain?

How shocked Trump was that he won.
