  • How Beauty Met the Beast: Book One of Tales of the Underlight

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Jax Garren
    • Narrated By Therese Plummer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Beast Scarred. Damaged. Living with a terrible secret. Agent of the Underlight Wesley 'Hauk' Haukon has nothing left but the fight for liberty against the oppressive Order of Ananke. He's starting to lose hope...and then he sees her. The Beauty Despite her night job as a burlesque dancer, grad student Jolie Benoit has always played the mostly good girl. That all changes following a scorching sexual encounter with a stranger whose face she doesn't see.

Sharon says: "Left me wanting more..."
    "Very pleasant surprise!"
Would you listen to How Beauty Met the Beast again? Why?

Definitely. A fresh take on an old classic. Well written with living breathing characters that it didn't take long to like. I'm hoping the ride won't stop here. Looking forward to more from this author and these characters! I originally bought it thinking it was short and inexpensive and I couldn't loose. Well I didn't! Thanks Jax!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Wesley...he is just heartbreaking and so deserving of more and has hope. I also love that he doesn't have a drop of self pity.

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

She did an excellent job with the voicing. I could easily tell one character from another and she is one of those women that can do male voices well also.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Buckle up Buttercup!

    Any additional comments?

I bought this instead of using a credit, just because it was inexpensive and I save credits for more expensive books. Credit or's a good listen.

  • Patient Zero: The Joe Ledger Novels, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 45 mins)
    • By Jonathan Maberry
    • Narrated By Ray Porter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Kim Venatries says: "Yes! It IS that good. Five stars and more."
"Exciting, suspenseful, I really enjoyed it."

Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Thank You

  • Shift: Shifters, Book 5

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Rachel Vincent
    • Narrated By Jennifer Van Dyck
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"Being the first female werecat enforcer isn’t easy. Scars accumulate, but I’m stronger in so many ways. As for my personal life? It’s complicated. Choices worth making always are. Ever since my brother’s death and my father’s impeachment, it’s all I can do to prevent more blood from spilling. Now our Pride is under attack by a flight of vicious thunderbirds. And making peace with our new enemies may be the only way to get the best of our old foe."

    Jeanette says: "Fantastic"
    "Vincent's done it again!"

I've been hooked on this series from the start and Shift is just one more reason to love it. The characters are smart, the dialogue is sharp and Jennifer Van Dyck is one of my favorite narrators.

Mine does have a dead spot in it. About 4 minutes of silence. Having read the series from the beginning, I don't feel like I missed much, but for someone picking up this one as the first one, it might be something important. I didn't see mention of this in any other review, so it was probably an isolated incident.

I'm looking forward to her next (and I hear her last in this series) Alpha.
