As part of a ruthless program by the totalitarian government, ninth-grade students are taken to a small isolated island with a map, food, and various weapons. Forced to wear special collars that explode when they break a rule, they must fight each other for three days until only one "winner" remains. The elimination contest becomes the ultimate in must-see reality television. A Japanese pulp classic available in English-language audio for the first time, Battle Royale is a potent allegory of what it means to be young and survive in today's dog-eat-dog world.

This is a great book, not a great audiobook. I read this book twice and decided that it would be fun to listen to it in my spare time since I loved it so much, bad mistake. The narrator is the worst narrator I have ever heard. ever. This is an emotional book and he puts no emotion into it. The characters all sound the same and when someone is dying and yelling at their enemy he reads the same as if they were talking to a friend. He does do a good job pronouncing names but this in no way makes up for how horrible he did with everything else. the narrator manages to make a book that is so intense and exciting come off as such a boring book. sometimes you dont even understand what is going on because of how horrible it is read. I hope that they decide to make another version read by someone that can put emotion into characters. If you really want to enjoy battle royale just pick up the hard copy of the book, it is so much better.

In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

This was a fantastic addition to The Stormlight Archive. Brandon Sanderson has done it again with this book. So many questions are answered and many more are added. The only thing I disliked about the book is Kate Reading. I do like her as a narrorator by her self, but when you switch so fast between her and Michael Kramer, it is hard because their voices for each character are so different. Other than that it was a great book.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

not really sure... I love Tim Curry, but his voice was just putting me to sleep...

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

If Mr. Curry would have put some more emotion into the main character.. she is just so bleh....

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tim Curry?

    anyone really...

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    very dissapointed.

    Any additional comments?

I could not finish the book. I really really wanted to enjoy this, the story line is really neat and original but I guess I will have to pick up a hard copy to finish it.

An ordinary family man, geologist, and Mormon, Soren Johansson has always believed he'll be reunited with his loved ones after death in an eternal hereafter. Then, he dies. Soren wakes to find himself cast by a God he has never heard of into a Hell whose dimensions he can barely grasp: a vast library he can only escape from by finding the book that contains the story of his life. In this haunting existential novella, author, philosopher, and ecologist Steven L. Peck explores a subversive vision of eternity.

I will first start out with saying that Steven Weber ties with Frank Muller for me for my favorite narrator. Steven Weber makes these characters come to life! I find myself wanting to listen to it again just because I enjoyed his narration so much.
That aside, the story is also amazing, king does such a great job in capturing how children think. I found myself laughing at some of the things that were said or the way they would think because I thought that same thing when I was a kid. It is a great story, some parts are disturbing but that comes with the territory. Don’t let the 45 hours scare you away from this great book, Steven Weber makes it go by like a cool summer breeze, and when it is over you find yourself wanting more.
