Judging from the excellent ratings, many people enjoy books about magic, witches, wizards, talking headless bodies, and monsters morphing into people. My taste is different from theirs.
but it will not be the last! The Capital Game is a wonderful story well told. Scott Brick is without peer as a narrator. I listen to more than 100 Audible books a year and am a fan of mystery/thriller books. I'm up to date on books by Vince Flynn, Lee Child, Brad Thor, Ben Coes, Michael Connelly, Nelson DeMille, Lisa Gardner, Karin Slaughter, David Baldacci, Alex Berenson, Bob Mayer, Brett Battles, Catherine Coulter, C. J. Box, Daniel Silva, Jeffrey Archer, Jo Nesbo, John Sanford, Ken Follett, Tom Clancy, Michael Korota, Olen Steinhauer, and Particia Cornwell, so was looking for a new author. Haig's joint project with Vince Flynn pointed the way to him.
This book is about comic book super heroes. I should have read the reviews.
My taste in books excludes the supernatural. Many people like this stuff, but I am not one of them. I should have read the reviews more carefully.
family series, and it the only book in the series that I dislike. Lisa Gardner tends to write dark novels, but this one is too dark for me. Nevertheless, she remains one of my six favorite living authors.
the Marching Season is very disappointing. Had this been my first Silva novel, it would have also been my last. It simply lacks the suspense of the Gabriel Allon series.
One Summer is a wonderful book. Those who have not experienced real, enduring romantic love will not understand the book. Atheists will hate it for its allusions to God and will be turned off by its "mysticism". Those who have not yet been parents may not appreciate One Summer.
I had read every book written by David Baldacci except One Summer. The negative reviews at Amazon convinced me that I would not enjoy One Summer. Finally, I gave in just to understand the complaints.
Thank you, Mr. Baldacci, for this marvelous book!
to Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. They are much better at it than he. The Gold Coast and The Gate House are both very disappointing. I am a big fan of Nelson DeMille, but not of these two books,
Nelson DeMille always tells a great story, and this book is among his best. I slightly down rate all of Demille's books because they move too slowly and are far too wordy. The abridged versions resolve this issue. Scott Brick always does an outstanding job, bur I prefer the use of a female for female voices (for example, David Baldacci's recent books use a combination of Ron McCardy and Orleagh Cassidy). I wish Brick would find someone like Cassidy for the female dialog. Scott Brick is still my favorite narrator.
This book was a waste of time. I suspect the book will be boring to most readers and listeners.
The characters were poorly developed, the plot disjointed, and Bourne was treated as a super human hero.
The narration was not the issue with this horridly written book.
I was disappointed that the Bourne franchise has sunk to the level that the author no longer feels the need to develop a good story.
