    Don't get me wrong; immortality does have its perks. Take dieting for example-kind of hard to do when you've only got two choices: fresh blood and slightly less fresh blood. The media makes it all out to be glamorous. Romantic, even. But the books, movies and witty television shows have it wrong. Especially the ones that make a big to-do about not being wrong (you know, the ones that spell vampire Vampyr, like it's original).And don't think for a second that I was turned in some amazing, soul-binding, body-meshing way either.

    What did you love best about Icarus?

    I found myself laughing out loud multiple times at the snarky Jessica Slate.


    What was one of the most memorable moments of Icarus?

    The ending was refreshingly unexpected.


    Have you listened to any of Rachel Anslover’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    I have not, but after listening to Icarus I would love to hear her other work.


    If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    A vampire story for those of us who think vampire stories are ridiculous.


    Any additional comments?

    I can't tell if this book would be more appealing to vampire fans or people who dislike the genre altogether. It seems to maintain a perfect balance between acknowledging the eye-rolling aspects of vampire lore and yet making the entire genre seem refreshing, exciting, and original. So I suppose it would appeal equally to both vampire fans and non-fans alike.
