In this revolutionary look at the brain, best-selling author, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst Norman Doidge, M.D., introduces both the brilliant scientists championing this new science of neuroplasticity and the astonishing progress of the people whose lives they've transformed.

Introducing principles we can all use, as well as a riveting collection of case histories, The Brain That Changes Itself has "implications for all human beings, not to mention human culture, human learning and human history."

Unabridged non-fictions can sometimes bog down in details...this one does. The topic and coverage is fascinating and well read. Some of the author's research would have been better summarized. Recommend the written work for professionals in the field. An abridged version would be better for the lay people.

How an Economy Grows and Why it Crashes uses illustration, humor, and accessible storytelling to explain complex topics of economic growth and monetary systems. In it, economic expert and bestselling author of Crash Proof, Peter Schiff teams up with his brother Andrew to apply their signature "take no prisoners" logic to expose the glaring fallacies that have become so ingrained in our country's economic conversation.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone who cares about their future and that of their children. It is approachable and understandable even by middle schoolers...and should be.

What other book might you compare How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes to and why?

I would compare this straightforward analysis of how things work the way they do with Something for Nothing by Brian Tracy, but its story-telling style is like Og Mandino's work in its appeal and charm.

Have you listened to any of Peter D. Schiff and Andrew J. Schiff ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have read/listened to these authors.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Isles of Plenty, Oceans of Poor

    Any additional comments?

Anyone with a mind that cares about how the world is changing, what works and what does not work and why should read/listen to this work.

"Economic hit men," John Perkins writes, "are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars. Their tools include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder."

This is stunning. I have seen much chinannigans in the corporate world but this pales in comparison to this stunning account of what this fellow was asked to do for Queen and Country. This book was a wonderful listen, the author relates how it happened in what seems to be a shocking side of historical events. You get to live inside his skin for a bit and feel the conflicts with morality and honor. What really goes on in Washington and in clandestine quarters we all wonder about with curiosity. Sometimes discovering what does makes us question our moral center. This book forces this issue and reveals what does occur. With the EU and UN raising the issue of the US "Empire" it is interesting to see what really occurs and how it is justified. Make up your own mind about the moral issues but it is a fabulous listen and will leave you grateful that you do not carry such dillemas in your everyday work.

  • A New Earth: Awakening To Your Life's Purpose

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Wow, much more value than I expected from the title. I stumbled on this book and am ecstatic that I did.

This book/audio should be experienced by everyone for one or more of the following three reasons:
    1) If you are happily going about life, not on a spiritual quest, never had a mystical moment and believe that you are just like everyone else, then this book will give you insights on how to experience more life and help you answer many of your difficult questions that you seldom think about.

    2) If you have had a mystical experience, remember it and want to get back to that "state" again, then this book shows you how to, why you should want to and what amazing things await you when you do.

    3) If you are on a spiritual quest, stop here. You need not search further. Eckhart gives you your answers in clear English for the Western reader. This is an amazing find for you.

Now, the down side. You will be distracted by Eckhart's accent. After a while in the book I realized why (although he never really speaks much about himself). Realized beings in the "state" have a breathy, deliberate, considered and generally slow way of speaking. This can lull you to sleep, but listern to the words and you will be fine.

This is the real McCoy. He knows. Listen.
