Hearing this story told with the perfect British accent makes a great story, that much better.
Waking up holding hands with Petra
Amazing story. I want more.
The story is such a compelling one, I didn't need the author's opinion on the state of society and politics in the wake if Katrina.
Tell more about Addie, and less opinion.
David, you're fabulous.
Entertain me, make me look like a crazy lady on the train when my shoulders shake silently in laughter. Give me tears of joy and blurt with laughter. Transport me to wherever the story is. Man, I'm picking up rubbish on the side of the road, right there with you.
I Love you. I Love you, but I don't give one lick about your politics.
Please don't go there again, you're better than that. I'm gonna be here for you next time, but please don't do that again. David, I know it hurts to hear this, but I can't let you do this to yourself.
You have to stop now before it becomes a habit, and all your old friends leave, and you have to go out and find new friends. Jesesh David, do you want to end up on the sale table next to Al Franken? Do you? Because that's where you are headed if you don't stop this nonsense.
I liked the book a lot, but this question would be better posed in the opposite. What did I hate most about the Dinner? What an interesting peek into the deep recesses of the mind of a creep!
Michelle, they only dabbled into the psyche of the boy. All we know is he is a clone of his dad, and his dad is awful.
I really disliked the narrator for the first 1/2 of the book. I felt he was way too animated. I felt like someone was reading a "Hello Kitty" children's novel to me, and was really annoyed by it. But I got so engrossed in the psyche of the awful people, that at some point it didn't matter anymore.
The Awful People
All of it. If forced to pick, it would be the extra stuff at the end, for audible only. Put a bird on it.
Revenge of the Paste Eaters
I wish she's let some more of her southern accent through.
I grew up in a small town with a lot of characters in it. My favorite people come from families like Jenny's, I'm probably from one too. I think odd balls scare people that haven't been there. My friends that grew up in suburbs, with normal families & friends didn't like this book as much as my friends that are oddballs. THANK YOU JENNY!!!
I loved the description of the sewing woman, Miss Berna Longmeyer. Her description tells a deep story about that exact time in the south.
It is always wonderful to hear a story in the author's voice, but this one was exceptional. Her southern soul was on display
My first choice would be Fay, because she would be entertaining, but I wouldn't want to actually spend any time with her. I'd prefer to spend time dining with Juge McKelva
mysterious precocious rollercoaster
The "you know what" part made me sad, but it also made it real.
No, too much to absorb. I needed a chapter at a time
This was one of those books that made me sad when it was over. I wanted it to listen to it forever.
