"Simply Fantastic"
I have read all of the first 8 books in the series, and am anxiously awaiting book 9 coming out in May. The author has stated she is currently writing book 10 so more Sookie to come. This books takes us on a new spin in Sookie's love life, but one that I can promise just keeps getting more and more exciting as each book moves forward. I recently started purchasing them on audio because my husband is interested in the story, but not to actually read it. This is one of my favorite in the series. If you are new to the Sookie Stackhouse series, begin with Dead Until Dark and continue on from there. Don't read/listen to them out of order or you will lose so much. There are also many short stories and novellas about Sookie in other books that Charlaine Harris has co-authored with other writers, so look for those as well!
"Needs a new narrator"
I expected this book to be exactly what it was - a fun and light read. And I believe it was that. What caused me to give it the 2 star rating was the Narrator, Nancy Wu. I loved the main character of the series for her smart mouth, sassy sense of humor. But, that being said, I think I could have laughed more had the narrator been different. Nancy Wu is overly dramatic when delivering the lines of this story, which for me, took away from the humor. I'm positive if the narrator was different, or I read the actual book, I could have found the humor for what it was meant to be; tongue and cheek funny. I did listen to the brief sample before purchasing, but unfortunately I didn't get enough insight into just how horrible listening to Nancy's voice and portrayal of the character would be when listening to her for more than 30 minutes. I actually had to go back 4 times to get through the whole story because after a good two hours of her voice, I found I could not listen anymore. If you are looking for a fun read, this is the story. If you are looking for listening enjoyment, I don't recommend this narrator.
