  • Just Kids

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Patti Smith
    • Narrated By Patti Smith
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Just Kids begins as a love story and ends as an elegy. It serves as a salute to New York City during the late 60s and 70s and to its rich and poor, its hustlers and hellions. A true fable, it is a portrait of two young artists' ascent, a prelude to fame.

Rick says: "Exceptional. Deeply honest and thoughtful."
"The most depressing book I have read in a long tim"
What made the experience of listening to Just Kids the most enjoyable?

but I could not put it down.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I had no favorite characters. It was gloomy at first and then became sad.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I guess it was best the Patty read it herself because she conveyed exactly what she meant.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I simply could not wait for it to end but I did not want to abandon it either.

  • Fade: Into You, Into Me, Into Always

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Kate Dawes
    • Narrated By Tanya Eby

Olivia Rowland leaves her Midwestern life behind after graduating from college and heads off to Los Angeles to work for a Hollywood talent agent. Life in L.A. is a culture shock, but nothing compared to the jolt she gets when Max enters her life. Max Dalton is Hollywood's youngest and brightest movie producer/director/writer. He's wealthy, successful, hot, and there's never a shortage of women throwing themselves at him, but there's only one woman he wants, and he intends to make it happen.

    Leesa says: "Just average"
"Why did Audible decide to offer this book?"
Would you try another book from Kate Dawes and/or Tanya Eby?

    No and no

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

How could the performance have been better?

Absolutely! Max sounds like an absolute idiot with a very strange accent.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Any additional comments?

    Don't waste your credit.

  • Night Pleasures: A Dark-Hunter Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Sherrilyn Kenyon
    • Narrated By Carrington MacDuffie

In Night Pleasures, Kyrian of Thrace - an immortal who protects humans from vampires - wakes up one morning handcuffed to the one thing that can scare him: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. But Amanda Devereaux turns out to be his perfect partner for hunting down a deadly foe, and for helping him to regain his soul and learn that love doesn't have to bite.

    Erich says: "REALLY!!??"
    "Night torture"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book has been disappointing.I can't think of anyone who would enjoy it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sherrilyn Kenyon again?

NO!! What a waste of my book credit!

What didn’t you like about Carrington MacDuffie’s performance?

She sounded like she had something in her mouth, like a piercing. I think she also made it sound as if she despised the main female character as much as I have.

What character would you cut from Night Pleasures?

  • Mockingjay: The Final Book of The Hunger Games

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Suzanne Collins
    • Narrated By Carolyn McCormick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena live, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge....

Sue Schreiber says: "A very satisfying ending"
"As bad as Hunger Games was good"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Better plot and more developed characters

What could Suzanne Collins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Have well written story with meaningful culmination

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

She was OK given the poor story in the end.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I had to know what happened to the characters I fell in love in the first book. The author seemed to have lost her inspiration.
