From the first rumblings of unrest and secession in the South, this dramatic saga follows the Rocklins as they experience the intense emotions and spiritual struggles of the Civil War. Even as the nation is ripped apart only to grow stronger, so also is the Rocklin family.

In one life-changing moment, the lives of the Jewish exiles in Babylon are thrown into confusion and despair when a decree arrives from the king's palace in Susa. It calls for the annihilation of every Jewish man, woman, and child throughout the empire on the 13th day of Adar, in less than one year. Ezra, a quiet Jewish scholar and teacher, is suddenly called upon to lead the community as they seek God for a reason for this catastrophe.

Excellent book again. First book also excellent in series. Author has a true gift of storytelling that keeps your attention. Uses believable biblical fiction to interact with true biblical readings. Hope this author writes more series like these. The voice that brings these books to audible is also excellent. She brings the right emotions to the right characters in the story. Thank you audible for placing these books on your website.

  • Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

What did you love best about Unbroken?

The fact that it's a true story that shows the full man not just part.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    the main character

Have you listened to any of Edward Herrmann’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm sorry but I have but it's been a while so I can't faithfully compare.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to but 14 hrs won't let me do that. Something about work, eating, and sleeping.

    Any additional comments?

I also liked how the author took other POW's words and they were acknowledged. As much as we look back and see the suffering and pain, I hope we never forget. What the greatest generation gave us as a gift(their suffering and lives). Also what the current generation is giving to future generations. Thanks again for all our veterans and their selfless sacrifices they give and have gave.
