  • Primal Leadership: Realizing the Power of Emotional Intelligence

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 36 mins)

Daniel Goleman's international best seller Emotional Intelligence forever changed our concept of "being smart," showing how emotional intelligence (EI) - how we handle ourselves and our relationships - can determine life success more than IQ. Now Goleman and company apply that knowledge to leadership in a must-hear presentation.

    "A must read"
    Overall

I will start with a caveat: This is long - and at times the focus on the actual functioning of the brain is a bit to indepth - so buckle down because it is a must read. It provides a data based approach to management and leadership, and should be a key reading of all new managers, executives and leaders. Too often, the market is filled with 'how I did it' books, which neglect to note that how the author did it is not universally applicable. By understanding all of the different style, you will learn to pick the styles that are appropriate for your situation and personality

"Too bad Robin Williams won't shut-up for a second"
    Overall

I bought a few of these - I like Robin Williams - but shut-up already! All he does it cut people off with one-liners trying SO HARD to be funny all the time.
What if we want to hear them speak without your interuptions that become annoying - and constant.
Too bad - great people - great comedian - just no middle ground. He is on all the time. Would not recommend

Did you ever have a great boss? Everyone should have one, but not enough people do. If you're a boss, or hope to become one, or have a less-than-great boss, then this is the book that could change your career-and your life.

    "Interesting Approach - Good Listen"
    Overall

Initially - I was not that taken with the book - the style seemed a little bit gimmicky. But - as you get into it, it is clear that the advice is great and the style is perfect for listening too (compartmentalized advice).

    Definitely would recommend it.

Venture deep into the surprising and enigmatic mind of George Lucas. Robin's first sit-down with George Lucas was after The Phantom Menace was released; the second just before Attack of the Clones hit theaters. Then, Academy Award winning animator and founder of Pixar, John Lasseter, talks about the process of making animated characters come to life. Bing Gordon, co-founder of Electronic Arts, talks with Robin about how far video games have come. You'll only hear this at Audible!

I am a huge fan of his - but found myself getting really annoyed! He does not shut up - and let these people talk. We are here to speak with them - some fascinating stories - but he keeps trying to get a word in and make a joke. SHUT UP! Too bad - some great people - overshadowed by Robin Williams poor interviewing skills.

If you were big and ugly, had a ton of sharp teeth, and a truly enormous appetite, you wouldn't need the "magic word" either! These stories for kids, from acclaimed storytelling songster Bill Harley, center around the theme of being small.

Dan says: "Mrs Jones 1st grade class loved it!"
    "A great book"
    Overall

Our 4 and 6 year old boys loved this book. A great addition when driving somewhere - and as they are in a 'dinosaur' phase, the concept of turning into a trex resonates well. He is a great story teller, try 'Battle of the Mad Scientist' also - another great book.
The only thing that we did not like was that the little boy kept saying that he 'hated' things. We have taught our boys that saying 'hate' is a strong word - to be avoided. Other than that - an amazing book.
