Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her "touched." Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn't speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come.

I bought the audio book. I love foreign accents. Since English is not my first language, Spanish is...I have one, thick and funny at times. For audio books though, accents may be tricky. Some are good, clean, clear but some are very difficult to understand. The narrator was good but her voice was so husky, no octave and hardly different tones of voice...it didn’t give the story the excitement it deserved.

I do liked the story, different from what I have been reading lately. It is different era, different principles, and different behavior but at the same time so much like now a days in many ways. I liked the characters and the chemistry among them. The loyalty and solidarity among them are encouraging Graham is such a macho, a well example of his time in the novel. Evelyn is so strong, with pride and courage, values I cherish in women.
    It was a good.

    >"Make me proud." These were the last words Livie’s father ever spoke to her. In the seven years since her parents’ tragic death, Livie has done her best to keep this promise through her every choice, word, and action, while looking after her sister with strength and maturity. But with college right around the corner, unexpected challenges will test her resilience - and her heart. Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy to marry someday. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots; a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say "no" to; and Ashton....

I am so sorry! I LOVED LOVED LOVED AND ENJOYED "Ten Tiny Breaths" so much that i even read it more than once. It was such a beautiful story, it was hard for me to let go.Given the success of TTB, I was looking forward for this book; Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations, in any way, not even close. The story was not compelling like its predecessor; it was boring actually. While the Author presented a strong, independent, smart Libby in TTB, i was flabbergasted to find a weak, insecure and cry-for-everything Libby, it was upsetting. I don't know how many times i rolled my eyes, amaze at the absurdity of the plot. I like the author, i just didn't like this book. This one wasn't a winner, but there is always a next time

Layken Cohen isn't your typical 18-year-old. After the recent death of her father, she is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's slowly losing hope. Enter Will Cooper: The 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for performing "Slams". Will and Layken immediately form an intense and emotional connection neither of them knew they needed until it was found.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes! it was a good read. My problem was that I read this book right after "Beautiful Disaster" that I LOVED..

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

it was too short for me. I would have liked to be more elaborated.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The male voices. I usually prefer a femaie narrator, but the male voices sounded all the same person.

Was Slammed worth the listening time?

    YES! Definetely.

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed this book. Its YA, mad, crazy love....i have to be with you at all times. It was not a once of a kind story, but overall, i think it was all right. I actually heard the lasts chapters a couple of tmes.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Lets say that ....I like happy endings....

What aspect of Emma Galvin’s performance would you have changed?

    The male voices.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

i would have liked the second book to be available right away, as soon as i finished the first one be able to keep involved with the story. i really really hate when i read a book i like and then i have to wait months even a year to know what else happens. It is really annoying.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Would you try another book from Gillian Flynn and/or Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ?

    YES.

If you’ve listened to books by Gillian Flynn before, how does this one compare?

    This one was my first.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ?

Yes. Their voice is very clear. Their pronunciation easy to understand. English is not my first language and some times it is hard for me to understand certain narrators. However, I enjoyed them very much.

Do you think Gone Girl needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes. I didnt like the ending. I wish we could finally see Nick being happy and free and Amy in a psych institution.

    Any additional comments?

I gave this book a 3 stars because i didnt expect the ending to be the way it did. However, the story is kind of twisted and i was interested for the most part.
