Nestled on a lonely stretch along the Pacific coast, quaint roadside outpost Harmony Corner offers everything a weary traveler needs - a cozy diner, a handy service station, a cluster of motel rooms...and the Harmony family homestead presiding over it all. But when Odd Thomas and company stop to spend the night, they discover that there’s more to this secluded haven than meets the eye - and that between life and death, there is something more frightening than either.

I have read or listened to all of the Odd Thomas series and this one just seems to rush to the end making it feel more like a short story and not on par with the other Odd books. Not a bad story just needs something more.

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris has won numerous awards for her Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series, which has been adapted into the hit HBO show True Blood. In this 13th and final book, a murder rocks the town of Bon Temps and Sookie is arrested for the crime. After making bail, she sets out to clear her name - but her investigation only leads to more deaths.

I am a Charlaine Harris fan and love the Sookie series, but this being the last book it was like Ms. Harris wanted to hurry and wrap things up just to get to the end. Not got the storyline the other Sookie books have had. Im not saying it's a bad book, just not the best in the series and written like an afterthought to tie up a few loose ends.

With death only a heartbeat away, Gene and the remaining humans must find a way to survive long enough to escape the hungry predators chasing them through the night. But they’re not the only things following Gene. He’s haunted by Ashley June who he left behind, and his burgeoning feelings for Sissy, the human girl at his side. Their escape takes them to a refuge of humans living high in the mountains. Gene and his friends think they’re finally safe, but not everything here is as it seems. And before long, Gene must ask himself if the new world they’ve entered is just as evil as the one they left behind.

Different from any vampire / zombie story out there, Prey gives you the blood sucking fiends with traditional vampire like qualities, but just not quite a "vampire. Scary and engrossing, it will keep you guessing and will have you scared. Hate that I am having to wait until November for the 3rd book.

Everyone says there are two paths in life, but for Jewel Scott it looked like both of them were very dangerous things. One led toward Anthony, a murdering psychopathic Werewolf who was also the head of the city mob and her fiancé...against her will. The other road led toward Steven, a Werecougar whom she had knocked out with a baseball bat on their first meeting. He retaliated by kidnapping her and making her his mate.

    Story

I have listened to the first 3 in this series and the story is getting better. I have listened to several series where it seems that the author takes a bit to get into the swing of things. A few things that are distracting about the stories is the constant setting up of future stories and couplings, I like a little forshadowing, but it can be a nuisance if it takes away from the current story, however it seems this, the third is better put together. The piano music between scenes if extremely irratating and becomes almost comical in Saturday Night Live skit kind of way of over dramatizing. The narrator has also grown with the series as she is good but could use a little polish and some understanding of the sarcasm the author seemed to intend in some of the interactions, sarcasm being my 2nd language, i understood. They are intersting enough that I will continue with the series to see how the characters play out.

In the grand manner of Interview with the Vampire, Violin moves across time and the continents, telling a story of two charismatic figures bound to each other by a passionate commitment to music as a means of rapture, seduction, and liberation. Also available abridged.

I like Anne Rice's work, but this was long, drawn out and downright painful to have to sit through. The only reason that I finished this was that I kept telling myself that this is an Anne Rice bokk, it has to get better.
