Tragedy has forced 16-year-old Victor Frankenstein to swear off alchemy forever. He burns the Dark Library. He vows he will never dabble in the dark sciences again — just as he vows he will no longer covet Elizabeth, his brother’s betrothed.

If only these things were not so tempting.... When he and Elizabeth discover a portal into the spirit world, they cannot resist. Together with Victor’s twin, Konrad, and their friend Henry, they venture into a place of infinite possibilities where power and passion reign.

...the hard way. Victor believes intelligence equals or surpasses wisdom. The story is a well written and very immaginative depictiin of what led the growing intellect, but lacking a moral compass, to tragedy.

Read it and u will see what I mean. My impressions are that the author builds a tense& somewhat creepy atmosphere, and characters are at least 3-D. U do feel something for their struggles. You could say this story is about 4 naive 60's liberals getting scared somewhat straighter.

There is an old, empty house in Devil's Cleave, a deep gorge that leads from the high moors down to the harbour village of Hollow Bay. The house is Crickley Hall and it's large and grim, somehow foreboding. It's rumoured to be haunted. It's thought to hold a secret. Despite some reservations, the Caleighs move in, searching for respite in this beautiful part of North Devon, seeking peace and perhaps to come to terms with what's happened to them as a family. But all is not well with the house....

A tedious tale of predictable events& cliched people...I mean are there no other abusers of women&children left in the world besides Christians?? ...perverse musicians
that travel to Bankock maybe, or creepy senators who support NAMBLA???...Dictators&dictator wanna-bees??...zealots from that other religion of peace??...what about good old fashioned Satanists?? And why does some creepy little man only brave enough to abuse children die and suddenly become infused with superpowers? In life the Captain of the Chess club could mop the floor wh him...I ask you?

But at the airport, Sam speaks instead of Noah’s Ark—the artifact her father had long been searching for—and the possible death of billions. Before Sam can explain, he collapses. With his dying breath, he urges Dilara to find Tyler Locke—a man she’s never heard of.

Basically Evil Bible thumping Greenie-Weenies seek to destroy the world. Try to imagine how idiotic a tale of Mad Hindus would seem, yet we are sold over and over in our culture the story that a people whose PRIMARY beliefs are Love their God and their neighbor seek the mass destruction of others. I know for certain that last time we met at my church in the Billions of dollars Bunker we like to sarcastically call THE HIVE, we agreed to put a new roof on our wee church, fix the heat/ac, and feed the poor.
Never mind that there is a religion of peace that publically declares a desire to bath the world in the blood of millons so that their messiah may return and their martyrs may recieve their 72 virginal rewards...maybe its just easier to kick sand in the face of a religion that turns the other cheek, instead of cutting your head off.

The cozy little town of Pine Deep buried the horrors of its past a long time ago. Thirty years have gone by since the darkness descended and the Black Harvest began, a time when a serial killer sheared a bloody swath through the quiet Pennsylvania village. The evil that once coursed through Pine Deep has been replaced by cheerful tourists getting ready to enjoy the country’s largest Halloween celebration in what is now called “The Spookiest Town in America.”

I stopped as soon as I got to the introduction of the Evil Christian, obedient, of course, to the voice of his Evil God. Personally I m sick of this tired cliched character in my books. I mean doesn t EVERYONE know by now that Christians boom songs about they B's&Ho s at their weekly services, dismissing the flock by popping a cap in another MFing parishner, or dress llike Demons and scream their drug induced hatred of God until they are so worked up that mutiple fights and stabbings breakout? Doesn t EVERYONE know this about Christians... I mean its in sooooo many books& movies?

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Would you consider the audio edition of Patient Zero to be better than the print version?

    IDK

What was one of the most memorable moments of Patient Zero?

Strongly written combat. What u might expect if Zombies were real. And the story grows with increasing danger yet does not become foolish.

Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed because author has a sharply sarcastic sense of humor.

    Any additional comments?

Only drawback is that the main character over does his PTSD. U end up with an admirably tough whiner .

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    Yes, tense, realisticly possible senerio.

What did you like best about this story?

    See above.

What about Steve Cooper’s performance did you like?

    Didn't aggravate the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

Didn't receive 5 for story bcause it was still typical bullets vs bodies; has no one heard of napalm, and what about tanks? No one ever explains how zombies defeat them wh teeth.
