Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

    Overall

I love her regular voice but all the main character's friends seem to have a deep weird voice, particularlly for women. I liked the book, it was a light "read" and want to listen to more but I'm not sure I can get past the low monotone voice the narrator uses for everyone else in the story. It's kind of weird.

Dante had been courting his victim in cyberspace for weeks before meeting her in person. A few sips of wine and a few hours later, she was dead. The murder weapon: a rare, usually undetectable date-rape drug with a street value of a quarter million dollars.

I'm so sad the narrator changed the voices. I was in love with this series and so happy to discover it since there are so many books and they are all awesome but the narrators characters and voices was what made them addictive. I started listening to a bit of the next book and it seems like peabody didn't fully come back - does it change back to normal in future books?

Sophie Katz's relationship with the irresistible and occasionally insufferable P.I. Anatoly Darinsky is on the fritz when a friend recruits Sophie's investigation skills to decode her possibly two-timing husband's strange behavior. When Sophie shows up in a short, red cocktail dress and her friend's hubby winds up dead, the loveable would-be sleuth can't help but take on the job.

"These books are growing on me"
    Overall

I have to be honest, even though these books have their flaws, I got one when Audible had the $4.95 series special. Since then I haven't even waited for my credits, I've bought them all. The author and the narrator are really growing on me and I hope I see a new book in this series soon.

Alvirah Meehan, a lottery winner turned amateur sleuth; recently "hitched" private detective Regan Reilly; and their husbands, Willy and Jack, are guests on the Royal Mermaid's maiden voyage, the "Santa Cruise". As the ship sails through troubled waters, Alvirah and Regan uncover clues that lead them to two dangerous men who were not on the original guest list!

Cyndi W says: "Perhaps the Author shouldn't narrate."

    Overall

You know - I do listen to all Carol Higgins Clark books because they are fluff and easy to listen to but always, in my opinion, kind of goofy and remind me somehow of teenager or kids books with the goofy names to the goofy premise and crazy characters. This book is no exception. It is chock full of irritating characters on a "santa" cruise and being almost done with this audio book - I still can't tell you exactly what the point of it is LOL Happy Holidays!

Nestled among Seattle's skyscrapers, The Zephyr Holdings Building is a bleak rectangle topped by an orange-and-black logo that gives no hint of Zephyr's business. Lack of clarity, it turns out, is Zephyr's defining characteristic. The floors are numbered in reverse. No one has ever seen the CEO or glimpsed his office on the first (i.e., top) floor. Yet every day people clip on their ID tags, file into the building, sit at their desks, and hope that they're not about to be outsourced.

I have read a lot of comments about the narrator and I personally liked the voices and enjoyed the book. I thought it was pretty funny, not really what I expected but I still liked it alot.

Thirty-four years ago, Violet Sullivan put on her party finery and left for the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. She was never seen again. In the small California town of Serena Station, tongues wagged. Some said she'd run off with a lover. Some said she was murdered by her husband.

    Jeanne says: "A Good Read"
"S is for Silence Not Great"
    Overall

I have to admit that I was not at all impressed with R is for Ricochet and was really looking forward to the next volume in the series. I also have to admit that I hate reading Sue Grafton's books but Judy Kaye, the reader, is so great and humourous that I have become addicted to Sue Grafton Audio Books. I have all of them (A - S).

In S is for Silence, the flash backs and lack of climax and when the mystery was solved it made no sense to me and I still have no idea what the motive of the killer was. I was also disappointed that they did not focus at all on the previous volumne including no mention of Henry, Rosie, Chaney or any of the other regulars. All in all it wasn't horrible but it was not good at all.
