I read all the Black Jack series , very good discriptions of people , allien interactions, with one very detailed, space battle, This book , looked to be shedding Black Jack from the story line, had to many players and took to long to sort the new players out, Was disapointed, in a fragmented potray of a "new beginning" of an old story line. Lost me and did not keep my attention.
Seems Scifi books are in two categories, first detailed, intricate with a main event, second is one War battle as plot builds until battle, Thanks to Marko Kloos, you get a great plot with solid characters, multiple, unrelated battles w/great audible reader with good story This book moves fast, you don't want to put it down, and its surprisingly fresh,Great listen can't wait to start next in series,
Been looking at this book for years not ready to download and listen, until one sleepy day, I pounced on it and was wowed. Seriously a book of divided views comes together with time and prospects of Death. If you believe or not in God this book will move you and hopefully open your eyes, was a delight to read, only part I quite couldn't figure out was the end, which was not complicated but open to interpretation. A great introspective book, great plot and story was intense and real. Not wanting to give any part of plot away, I won't,
Listened to this book as I wasn't going to listen to anymore that Hammer read, I was pleased he livened up the pace and had enriched the book a little, Not sue what happened to this story it started out involved, seemed to loose direction about a 1/4 in. Couldn't keep characters separate at times, Besides Sonny connection with Dave's,& that conclusion the story was a bit confusing, Most of Burkes books are one of my best Audible experiences of all times this one left me short., Hammer was alot better than his read of Burning Angel,
I'm sorry I love J Burkes books though Mark Hammer You try , Will Patton ruined Burkes books forever since he read the books with such whimsical poetry making listening to Audible a very great experience. Mark Hammer I was lucky to listen with a player that could speed up the reading since the the recorded version was so sloow, It helped a bunch, mellow reading style made it very hard to distinguish between characters, in fact this is one of the first books out of 300 that I can't even tell you what the plot was or outcome, I hate to be negative about someone making a living, I can't listen to M Hammer as a reader w/ Burkes stories, Patton where our you.
This is one of the best series of any multiple books I ever read, except this book was confusing and long winded, to say the least. I also felt the narrator who has been excellent was little off in character form, though after so many books , guys got to have a off book specially with a worded feel to it, I didn't pay as close attention to this book, since it didn't flow as well as the others, though now being on the last book I am very intrigued how they he is going to finish this intricate book and all the great characters , this book did not help but for a few loose ends, which being near the very end might be totally irrelevant. No worries as all the other books get upper 4-5 stars throughout ratings, overall, Performance, and Story. This Book , not so much.
Maybe, not. The plot is getting old and putting fossil inexpensive fuels from the earth as the enemy gets old , Just don't want to hear politics from entertainment fabricators, I read these books to get away from all the BS.
Forgot his name but the Shaman and of course the dog.
Reviewing in this formate is wrong, other than that the book was readable or easy to listen to, obviously to my point, he is banging these books out quickly keeping the Druid series going while its making money, can't blame a guy for that, I do not tolerate politics for a Fiction book at all being in politics kills the deal and the view points that the author try to fit into this story line are very narrow to say the least, I will probably stop reading his books not only for the political and ruinous Monkey Gang activision ruining millions of dollars of equipment which just takes more resources to rebuild and all the folks that get more Bar time being out of work, kudos for thinking it through, That said the series was a delight before material of story line was pushed to fast into production. We will see what he writes and hope for renewal of creativity.
Value for the money, long book, which I normally like, Technical plots that like a puzzle fit together eventually. The reason I wrote this review is I was so surprised of the high ratings it was receiving when I and other respected readers thought as I did it was not his best work, kind of a let down.
Shorter less, cleaner and clearer integration of story.
Yes but it did get blurred , not the readers fault I don't think.
One of the gangs I suppose , to many key figures, all
The book started out really good , putting together a solid character base, than wham your into another group of characters, eventually becoming the story, Part of what I didn't like was the story was all over the place , Reminds me when King's novels got to wordy like it was put on paper because you were paid by the word. Stephen King has gotten through that I am sure Stephenson will to. Just a let down after so many good books.
Yes I would recommend this to any friend, very entertaining
Great set of characters, set in a modern time with very ancient people
Don't hurt me if you can.
Great story , at the beginning I was concerned the reader was going to be a let down as the story evolved it went very smoothly and ended to quickly.
I really like good sci-fi war books , the entertainment value is tremendous , the characters in this book were awesome, East listen goes by to quick, the narrator was one of the best.
