A teen idol at 15, an international icon and founder of the Brat Pack at 20, and one of Hollywood's top stars to this day, Rob Lowe chronicles his experiences. Never mean-spirited or salacious, Lowe delivers unexpected glimpses into his successes, disappointments, relationships, and one-of-a-kind encounters with people who shaped our world over the last 25 years. These stories are as entertaining as they are unforgettable.

I hate to admit it, but I was very surprised to find the writing by Mr. Lowe to be so deep. The account of his interesting life would be an entertaining read. However, his thoughtful, near-philosophical written analysis of his path to maturity is beautiful. Several times, I thought, "The writer of this book could easily have been a very successful writer!" His choice of words is almost poetic at times. Who knew Mr. Lowe had these hidden talents! Listening to the audio adds depth...his own emphasis and emotion about his own life! GREAT READ!

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

I read the synopsis of this book when it first hit the best seller lists. For some reason, it didn't appeal to me at the time. I kept seeing it on the lists...and kept resisting. Finally, when the previews of the movie came out, I decided to give it a try. Occasionally, I am disappointed by a book. I am seldom shocked by how much a book moves me! This book had my full, undivided attention from the first and touched me deeply! I love the different voices for the younger and older Jacob! GREAT story!

I had never read anything by this author, but I will be looking for more! I couldn't wait to see what would happen...and was sad when the book ended because it was over! The author did a great job of segmenting the story...alternating between letting the Dog, Chance, tell the story from his side, and the main character, Adam, tell the story from his side. Together, both sides make a great story!

Jodi Picoult delivers the riveting tale of one small town's entanglement with high-school violence.

New York Superior Court Judge Alex Cormier is assigned to preside over the case of the alleged Sterling High School shooter. Lawyer Jordan McAffee represents Peter, the boy who, on the day of the shooting, was found in the corner of the gymnasium holding a gun to his head with a shaky hand. Detective Patrick DuCharme has one star witness, but her story keeps changing. And then there's the biggest problem of all: the star witness happens to be Judge Cormier's daughter.

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children, unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a 12-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery.

Mike Leonard is a lucky man. It's not everyone who gets parents like Jack and Marge. At 87, Jack is a pathological optimist with an inexhaustible gift of gab. Marge, Jack's bride of 60 years, though cut from the same rough bolt of Irish immigrant cloth, is his polar opposite, pessimistic and proud of it. What was their son, Mike, thinking when he took a sabbatical from his job with NBC News so he could pile these two world-class originals into a pair of rented RVs and hit the road for a month?

There is good news and bad news about this book! The good news is that it was one of the most entertaining I have read (listened to) in years! The bad news is that I searched all over the internet, but ths author doesn't have any other audiobooks! It was entertaining on so many levels and I could literally picture taking a road trip with my whole extended family while listening to this story! I don't often laugh out loud, but I did several times while listening to this one!
