Northumberland, 1815: At long last, Britain is at peace, and General Jack Armstrong is coming home to the wife he barely knows. Wed for mutual convenience, their union unconsummated, the couple has exchanged only cold, dutiful letters. With no more wars to fight, Jack is ready to attempt a peace treaty of his own. Elizabeth Armstrong is on the warpath. She never expected fidelity from the husband she knew for only a week, but his scandalous exploits have made her the object of pity for years.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It is difficult to imagine soldiers in battle or heated love scenes or anything else when all of the characters sound like a 12 year old girl.

Would you be willing to try another book from Susanna Fraser? Why or why not?

If it was narrated by someone else.

Would you be willing to try another one of Camme Tyla’s performances?

    Absolutely not.

Did An Infamous Marriage inspire you to do anything?

    No

If you could sum up Flowers from the Storm in three words, what would they be?

    Just loved it

What did you like best about this story?

Though the book was long, it kept my attention with its twists and turns. Characters coming from very different lifestyles and struggling to understand one another.

What about Nicholas Boulton’s performance did you like?

The book would have been nothing without his amazing performance. To bring to life the struggles of Christian, his labored speech, his anger with himself and others, you would not have been able to understand the story without him.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me mad not laugh or cry. The way Christian was treated by everyone except Maddie truly made me mad.

    Any additional comments?

    Excellent book.

No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Marriage List to be better than the print version?

I prefer the audio edition because a story set in historical England should be in the language to get the effect.

None that I can think of.
