I'm not going to call
Job well done.
No extreme reaction, but I did find myself grinning frequently.
I'd like to see Ms. Harper write more stories that don't involve the supernatural.
Listened to this with my 94 year old father who served in WWII. This was his first audio book and he really enjoyed it. As an avid reader of history, it was a pleasure to "listen" to a book for the first time. It was an excellent and well written story of Ike's life, with a wonderful narrator.
The story idea was interesting, but it seemed like a first time, by the formula, attempt at writing. It all felt very amateurish. Perhaps I'll give this author another chance in a few years if she manages to get more novels published and see if her style improves, but at this point in time, I would not recommend this book.
As part of the "Butcher's Boy" trilogy, it was a hard book to put down. I listened to all three, back to back to back. Perry's stories are always fast moving and intense and we are exposed to another world, where people live off the grid. Some are predators, some are survivors, all living in secret just to stay alive. And while the Butcher's Boy is a professional assassin, in the end, you are rooting for his survival.
Chloe Neill has given us another enjoyable read. Supernatural Chick Lit at its best.
Merit, just a regular gal turned into a vampire is, once again, out to save the world, and tempt us with more of the best that Chicago has to offer, from baseball to pizza. Glad to see that Ethan is back and I'm really looking forward to see how that plot line works out.
Biggest complaint is that there is a new narrator! While Sophie Eastlake did a good job, she isn't Cynthia Halloway. Ms. Halloway IS the voice of Merit. She has a very distinct speaking style and I found it hard to get over the new narrator. Cynthia Halloway is to Merit what Johanna Parker is to Sookie Stackhouse.
