"Weird and pointless - almost"
I tried listening to this book when I first got it, but for some reason I didn't remember, couldn't get into it. I went back through my library and realized I still had not read it. "It's only 4 hours, no big deal!" Yeah, wow. This book takes forever to get to any point. Nothing leading up to the end is important (not really). I kept waiting for something to happen. I thought it would be more... erotic or sexual, but it's really not. It makes no sense. Maybe it's the genre and I'm just missing something or not interested, but my rating is a 1 star and that's only because a. it's the lowest I could give, and b. the narrator would probably be good in another book whose writing doesn't put you to sleep.
"Marsters or nothing - Harry shoudn't sound WHINY"
Jim Butcher - absolutely - John Glover - maybe, but not as Harry Dresden. Marsters is Dresden.
JAMES MARSTERS - please do not ever make this mistake again. The listeners of Harry Dresden would have gladly waited for our star to record this book. The feel of the book completely changes with John Glover.
I'm sure that this is a good story, but I've having a hard time with the narrator. As EVERYONE has said, the narrator comes off too whiny for Harry Dresden.
"Author is not a narrator"
I really wish I had bothered to either read the reviews or listen to a snippet. What should be a very nice, relaxing book is awful. I can't get into the scenes she is describing because her voice ruins it. Buy the book, not the audio. Unless... someone reads enough of the bad reviews and re-records it. (Then give all of us poor schmucks that listened to the bad version a free upgrade.)
