"Don't Waste Your Time"
The Author wants you to think that this man's selfish insanity was something to admire. I found this book to be quite idiotic. The man spent his life in a very selfish way, and went into Alaska without some of the barest essentials. He died there, and we're supposed to believe it was a noble thing. Sorry, I don't buy it.
"Tedious"
I would have liked this book better if they had not gone into such minute detail about the anthill. They went on and on and on. The story itself was good enough and I might have just enjoyed that if the writer hadn't bored me to death with the anthill details.
"Very Interesting"
I found this to be very interesting. I have been a fan of Atlas Shrugged and was intrigued to learn about the woman who wrote it. Although I don't believe the same things she did, I found Ayn Rand fascinating. She was a fanatic about her views and I believe Atlas Shrugged and her other novels could only have been written by such a relentless person.
"Intense"
I have sort of a love/hate relationship with this book. It is so intense and maddening, although I believe it is an accurate portrayal of Russia during the post Bolshevik Revolution times. Ayn Rand was such a powerful writer. After finishing this book I had to get a lighter one.
"Wonderful Book!"
I love this book. The movie Simon Birch was based on this story, although Simon/Owen actually makes it to adulthood in this story. The writing is excellent! The narration is excellent! I rarely repeat books, but I may have to listen to this one again!
"Very Interesting"
First let me say, I am a Republican. I was interested to hear Kennedy's views of historical events in which he was so closely involved. This book did not disappoint, even as his political views were quite irritating to me. I found his inside "scoop" on the different presidents enlightening, although they are quite liberally skewed (as you might expect). The narrator was wonderful. He spoke so naturally, I kept thinking it was Kennedy speaking, then I would realize it was not.
"The Movie Was Much Better"
The way the story ends (which isn't the same as the movie) leaves a lot to be desired.
"Loved the story"
I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't quit listening!
"Loved the story"
I am a big fan Khaled Hosseini
"Great Narration"
Of Course The Bible is the greatest book ever. Max McLean is a wonderful narrator, and it doesn't hurt that he has a British accent!
