"Love it or hate it , no middle."
Rarely do I read reviews with so bimodal a distribution of reviews and stars.
Love it or hate it.
I laughed till I hurt.
My wife finds it silly/offensive.
If you like the Colbert Repor' you will find it a lively dose of Steve in a different method of delivery.
If you find Steve Colbert's style of irreverence, cynicism, disrespect for any and everything funny buy it and enjoy and laugh. The art of laughing at ourselves, our society and our way of life is his forte.
If you find Mr. Colbert's style of humor tasteless or tiring or too cynical move on and keep shopping.
I loved it.
"hours and hours of pain"
On a thousand mile driving trip I made the mistake of telling my wife she could listen to this thing. OK, admittedly I'm not a fan of modern fiction nor of Oprah, but ouch.
Too long, laboriously detailed and monotonous in narrow scope.
Half way through I find it's yet another murder mystery.....strike three.
If you are a dog lover it is tedious but maybe likable. I kept wondering if dog trainers like it, as it has numerous hours of painstaking detail of dog training, even as seen by the dog!
OK. I get home about 4 hours form the end, grateful that I was spared the last 4 hours on the drive to find here that so many readers found the end dismal, depressing and hollow.
Then, according to another on-line review the the whole mess is a modern retelling of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Ouch, quadruple ouch.
If you believe the book reviewers here that it is wonderful ignore me. I'm just one guy.
My wife, after the trip and 3/4 of the audio book, admitted that she tried to read it for one of her book clubs and gave up. Then bought it too listen to on our trip. Oh, THANKS sweety.
Well.
Try it if you like Orhah's judgement and modern fiction.
If you're a concrete analytical non-fiction biography reader like me.....move on.
