"Bad Sound and Mumble"
I agree with the earlier comments about the very poor audio quality of this one - not just the reader and his 'voices' confusion, but the overall audio quality left much to be desired - despite downloading format 4.
Whilst the story line was reasonable if not riveting, it was spoilt by the audio constraints. The only positive thing was that I had to replay so much of it to actually understand what was being said, that it passed even more tedious hours in countless planes and airports!!
"Confounded"
The storyline is OK but suffers from the confusion and stop/start noted by other reviewers. The real whammy however is Mr Brick's Irish accent. It is terrible and can only be equated with Owen Meanie's voice. Terrible - please Scott, restrict yourself to narrating in 'American'!!!
"Overkill"
I was sadly disappointed with this - the basic storyline was good but completely ruined by deeds of daring-do better suited to a 'Biggles' story for boys. The reader added to this let-down by treating us to a breathless rendition that was little short of farcical - overkill indeed.
Find something better to listen to than this pathetic bodice ripper of a so called thriller.
"45 hours of total enjoyment"
The story is great, the reader magnificent and the setting enthralling. Its one of those rare examples where everything melds together beautifully. Heartily recommended.
"Gathering Momentum"
This is one of those listens that improves as familiarity progresses. To begin with I found the whole thing a bit slow with background descriptions leaning towards the excessive, but once things get moving you will soon be carried along in the rush. The narrator puts a lot of effort into the presentation and generally succeeeds very well.
Enjoyed it.
"Google Gushing"
Whilst I enjoyed the book and generally agree with comments made by other reviewers, I also felt that the exposition came over as somewhat 'twee' and 'hyper'. I simply cannot believe that everything about Google and its development is so extraordinary and everyone concerned is so 'excited' about it all the time. A more balanced presentation would have included a bit more of the down side.
On balance a good listen but too sweet for my taste.
