"Not as good as part 1"
The story line for this book was a little on the weak side. One thing that I can not phathom is a mother not letting her kid know who his father is or even telling him a name even if it aint the truth. I know some parents hold a lot of their pasts inside but eventually someone around usually says something to the kid or someone says something to the kid. I know this because of personal experience the truth always comes to light no matter what. One thing I was waiting to find out was if Jamari and Born were really brothers I know that Jamari was a liar but sometimes there may be some truth in a lie. The ending of the story took me by surprise because it ended without the readers knowing what will happen next. I just can not believe how stupid Sunny turned out to be and how selfish but if you think about it she never had time to grow up so she is stuck in that mine mine mine mindframe. All in all the book was ok I loved the first one better because I felt like I was part of the story this story left me with a lot of unanswered questions that I hope get answered in book 3.
"Truth be told"
People aren't always who they portray themselves to be. I have read all of the audiobooks available on audible from Carl Weber and now I am able to piece all the stories together and I have a background view about the characters in different books and I realize that this is a small world. I understand the connections and stories in the Choir Director a lot better now that I see the Jackie Robinson connection. Wow! Carl you did an awesome job writing about this community of people in Jamaica, New York. I can truly relate to a couple of the characters and the tragedy that happened in the book opened my eyes to see how insane people can become. I was in an abusive relationship myself once upon a time and I can't even imagine having to go through the things the young lady in the book had to encounter the steps some men go to make a woman's life a living hell. I left because I was ready to go and tired of the environment I had become use to but it was no where near as drastic as the things that I have heard people going through and I did have the opportunity to walk away without feeling a major financial loss or the feeling of worthless... CARL WEBER you are my all time fave author. This book was pretty good and I'm glad to see my question about the baby Marcus in Player Haters was answered cause I wanted to know what happened next. The narrators are phenominal as usual and the book kept me wanting to listen to the whole story. Good read
"Epilogue brings the story together"
I was waiting for Carl Weber to drop a new book and I wasn't at all disappointed with this mystery. I like how Carl Weber let us meet the characters and the situations in their life that help you connect to the charcter. You even get the opportunity to meet the man in 3b and learn a lil about him before his death. I don't want to give anything away but I did like the narrators and the story was put together very well. It wasn't one of the best books I have read by Carl Weber but it kept my interest. Pretty good book Carl.
"A True Erotic Thriller"
I love noire she is a lyrical author who weaves tales so explicit that her name is branded in the words. I love how Nicole Small's narrates this tale that noire spits. Juicy is the character in this story and you won't forget the way she is betrayed as a young naive lady that is picked by one of the biggest players in the game this detail makes her story a classic. The life she lives thereafter, will have you trapped by the words and wanting to know what will happen next. Noire is a very RAW uncut author who paints pictures by her words. This book is for more experienced readers who can handle the street aspect and for people un afraid of explcit content because there is definately a lot of RAW material in these words. I have read other Noire books like Candylicker and thugalicious and I think this is my fave thus far. Enjoy this reader and let it take you back into your mind so you can picture this story as a movie.
"Spirit's of the past"
This book is filled with the same drama that I like and have read in the previous Cartel series, with so many twists and turns it leaves you wanting more. I would go into detail about the characters but due to all the twists and turns of the previous Cartel series I don't want to give nothing away. The violence in the book is still what gives the book all the drama and give the readers an adrenalin rush. The narrator did an excellent job and brought life to this book and the characters will be having you say "wtf". Don't miss this one because it will leave you wanting more but it also answers questions that you may have formed in your head from the previous Cartel books.
"An ending you wouldn't expect"
The story was ok but I just didnt like the fact that the sister would even entertain her sister ex fiancee but I guess it happens a lot all over the world. The end is what blew me away because it was different and unexpected. The author did a great job developing the characters and also telling the story regarding the relationship of the parents and the roles each parent plays in the story. The narrator did a good job speaking the roles of each sister. All in all the book was a little slow paced for me and I needed more action than what this book gave me the only part that really grasped me was near the end of the book.
"Through the Eyes of a Child"
This book was so amazing and more than what I ever expected it to be. This book takes place in the era of the Civil Rights movement and is a realistic view from a outcast child. Tangy lives in a poor household with a single mother who has many children by different men. In the beginning she sees the world through a childs eyes and then certain circumstances and situations throughout the book make her wise beyond her years and makes her grow up faster then a child should grow. She is only 18 at the end of the book and you see she has a story to tell of a life you would never expect a child to go through. My favorite character in the book is Junior because this character made Tangy realize how smart she was and kept her mind on trying to better herself and her situation and was a great person for her to look up to. The Narrator also did an amazing job telling the story and making the audience feel as if they were a part of the story. I could see the scenes in my head and felt like I too was a child watching all the madness happening around me. Great book that I would recommend to everyone.
"Only GOD can judge us!"
I enjoyed this book because it helped me understand the mind of people who are in cults or organized religion that find ways to control the people who follow them. Sometimes I would find myself saying why can't these brotheren folks just think for themselves or I would find myself like Z saying who do they think they are to be able to judge anybody. One religion that I would like to compare the brotheren to would be the Church of Latter Day Saints and this is not trying to be offensive to any LDS followers. I lived in Logan Utah throughout my college career (USU representing the c/o 2005) and the main religion in Utah are the "Mormons" to me it seemed as if they were so worried about what other people thought of them. Mormons/Brotheren are/were good people with great morals but if you can't live your life without worrying about what others think or how they will judge you what are you truly trying to grasp from the religion? These type of religions feel as if they have the right to condemn you if you make a mistake. Does it really matter what other people say? That's a question for all and your answer is what it is. The narrator did a great job with this selection and I liked the overall message of the book because it made me think about religion and my own beliefs. I believe in prophetic gifts because I am a dreamer myself and my dreams have come to past quite a few times or are messages to people I know. I thought the characters were well defined and brought to life by the narrator and I would refer this book to anyone who wants to find an interesting read about religion.
"The lives we live"
This book was very slow paced and a little boring, but I found myself stuck at the end of the book where the great tragedy happens. The way this man played with his 2 women was ridiculous and it made me realize that some people will never understand how things affects others until they are truly affected by negative consequences. Something I learned from reading this book is that, no one ever knows anyone and don't ever trust every word that comes out of anyones mouth. From this book you see that the people who seem to have the most allegiance to you will be the ones to stab you in your back and betray you just like they betrayed Jesus. Narration was good but the story could have been a little better.
"Story of a stalker"
When I read the book review I wasn't at all interested in the story line it sounded a little boring but I decided to give it a chance anyway. I am in actually glad I had purchased this audiobook because it's nothing like I expected it to be the review doesn't give the book any type of justice. Granville was a fool with the lengths he was willing to go to have the woman that he set his sights on. My favorite character was Loretta and probably because she was the one I can relate to when it comes to being a single mother. The ending had me at the edge of my seat in shock because I am still amazed that the situation led to the end result. I cant wait to read the next book to see what Miss Southern Bell will do next. The main theme to this book should be, what you do in the dark always comes to the light. The Narrators were fantastic and brought the book to life and built the characters into the people you will learn to love or hate. Good book
"Surprised but delightful"
I am simply amazed that these reality stars are able to put together such a good story lines. This book was a good read and was well put together it kept me engaged and wanting to find out what will happen next. I know that I want to read the next book to find out what will happen to the main character and her best friend. There are vivid sexual scenes but this book isn't raunchy but is along the lines of being classy and interesting. The Narrator was very good and the twist and turns in the book will make you say WOW I wasn't expecting that.
