The story line for this book was a little on the weak side. One thing that I can not phathom is a mother not letting her kid know who his father is or even telling him a name even if it aint the truth. I know some parents hold a lot of their pasts inside but eventually someone around usually says something to the kid or someone says something to the kid. I know this because of personal experience the truth always comes to light no matter what. One thing I was waiting to find out was if Jamari and Born were really brothers I know that Jamari was a liar but sometimes there may be some truth in a lie. The ending of the story took me by surprise because it ended without the readers knowing what will happen next. I just can not believe how stupid Sunny turned out to be and how selfish but if you think about it she never had time to grow up so she is stuck in that mine mine mine mindframe. All in all the book was ok I loved the first one better because I felt like I was part of the story this story left me with a lot of unanswered questions that I hope get answered in book 3.
I simply love the way that KiKi Swinson can put a story together. This book was a wonderful example of story telling and it captured my attention. Today's audience is so into the drama of things that happen on television, we never realize what happens during the taping of shows like Real Houswives, Basketball Wives and television shows like wife swap can have a major impact on the characters real lives. When we watch these shows we see what kind of people these are, you can only play a role for so long and after enough time goes by true character gets revealed. The grass isn't always greener or maybe it is with some folks. I always ask myself is the money worth me opening up my life to world. This book was a great of example of how money can ruin what you have to live for. In this book I found myself loving and hating the characters. My favorite thus far was was Trice and it's not just because I am a Trice myself but because the title of the book says it all "Wife Extraordinaire" and that is exactly what she is. The narrators did an excellent job bringing life and action to their words. This book actually helped open my mind to what would I do if I were in each of the characters shoes. I even asked my fiancee those "what if" questions to see if he would do the same thing that Troy did throughout the story. This is a great read and 2 thumbs up to Miss Kiki for this book right here.
I thought this story was going to be freaky deaky, sweat drenching, explicit to the max filled with sexual scenes that would take my mind to different levels. That's what I wanted and expected but that definately is not what this book was about. I am a lil disappointed but it was a reasonable story. I wasn't too intrigued by this book, not saying it wasn't good but I guess I wanted the RAW Hardcore raunchy explicit uncut version. Don't judge me that's just how I like my books. Bahni Turpin was phenominal with this read though, her voice is so assertive and live. Not a bad book, there was a lot going on around each and every corner. A lot of revelations that came to light within this book. This book just wasn't for me.
I realized how much I love the author Jennifer Luckett her stories are so captivating and keep your mind going and you don't want to stop. What I loved about this audio was the performance the narrator was dabombdotcom. My favorite person in the book was Mr. Sam the nosey neighbor because he was the true definition of a horny old man. This story had many twists and turns where you never knew what was to happen next. Prince and Nicole's relationship and how they came to be together was a wonderful part of this story. It was different because they were loyal to one another from beginning to the end. One thing you will learn throughout this book is that loyalty means nothing in the streets and money talks. This book helped me realize that people do the craziest things and really no one knows nobody. Renegade was dirty oh so dirty and to the people who get in to this story will understand what I mean, all I can say is he took Dirty to a whole other level. Great story!
I guess I like drama and twists and turns, that is the only reason the rating is so low because this book was not my cup of tea. There really wasn't anything that grasped my attention to make me wanna to stay tuned in this book. It took me about a week to finish this listen. It was like watching a daily soap opera and it takes a minute for the story to take off and get into. This just wasn't the book for me it would better suite a grandma or my mother. Not too much drama, just a little everyday type of conflict and a good clean story about regular ordinary kind of people.
This was a different type of read only because I had to readjust my mind to a younger generation mind frame because kids these days weren't raised like I was. Mercedes was the true definition of spoiled rotten. This book wasn't bad it just seemed like the characters like Mercedes and Maria were naive and very passive and had no type of sense whatsoever they just did and thought what they were told. The story wasn't bad it just seemed to have a lapse of time from birth to teenager for Mercedes and unanswered questions regarding differnt charcters we met like Hazel and Chino. This performance wasn't bad and the voice matched the characters. All in all this story was for younger audience but I will read another book from this author. I do like how the book ended.
I liked this book it was very suspenseful and helped me understand how Paris become the bad chick that we know her to be in other books. I love her loyalty to her family and you can tell she has always been loyal to her family even in the midst of her being in love. She is still a super freak and willing to do what she has to do to get the job done. The narrator brought life and emotion to this book. I was able to feel the suspense and fight in the words that were used and this author duo worked together very well. I will give this book two thumbs up and will continue to read Carl Weber and Eric Pete books. I am still amazed that Paris found love.
This collection of short stories were really a hott mess. I think the theme I took from all these stories were little girls becoming women way before they were ready, and the men that did them wrong and the people they had to kill to find themselves. Although the stories were long and drawn out I can respect that the authors did their best in writing them. The narrators were pretty good but the stories could have been a lot better. I will not put these authors down but I will be watching to see how well their skills will develop. But to sum it all up "I'm not impressed".
I am so excited to be introduced to this author and I will definitely be a supporter for this one. This book had my mind reeling and trying to define what a true ride or die chick is. Sparkle is the main chic in this book who is trying to know her place when it comes to her man. The things she goes through and puts up with from her man Sayveon are only things that a woman who really loves a man would do. I think what I like most was that Mississippi was the setting in this book and because I know that things like this really happen in the Sip my interest was peaked. Sayveon also gets a reality check that opens the door to his relationship with his folks while growing up. I enjoyed listening to the story unfold and seeing the path each character will take. I am ready for the next book to see what will happen to each characters life and how life experiences may or may not change them. this was a good book with a good narrator that will hold your attention.
I bought this book in hopes that I could change my mind about this author and all I can say is that I will not buy another book by JD Mason. The story started off introducing too many people, so all through the story your like ummmm who is doing what to whom damn I'm lost so let me go back and listen again so I can get it whats going on. NO INDEED THIS IS NOT AN AUTHOR FOR ME.
Although I enjoyed this book I found it unbelievable only because so much happens at the beginning and all the way to the end. Leah is a bad seed and I now understand her thought pattern and the reason why she is truly crazy and out to get Disaya. This book should have been named Prada Plan 2 a bad seed knows all evil. Leah is insane but yet so crafty and conniving. All this to destroy Disaya but at the end of the day only the best will survive and she will get the family she fought so hard to have. I am a Disaya fan from jump, she sounds weak in the beginning but eventually she gets on her game in order for her to survive. Just bought PP3 and can't wait to unveil the next part of this story.
