I have not finished listening to this but after the part about the deceased mother's horse, I found myself wishing that the main character and her family was lost forever on the Pacific Crest Trail. Many of the characters, including the main one- are not likable.
Different book to read.
Anger, I had nothing invested in the success of the main character.
This is a very good book and the character of Joe is refreshing and likeable. If you like books about Orange County, CA, Michael Connolly, or James Lee Burke, you will probably like T. Jefferson Parker and "Silent Joe".
Joe Trona is tough, somewhat innocent, gallant, and honest. He was cruelly scarred as a baby and seems grateful every day of his life that he was adopted by the Tronas.
No I haven't.
The book was very interesting and well written. I would have liked to listen to it in one sitting and wished there was a series with Joe Trona.
Will Patton, narrator.
The description of Clete Percell.
When they were in the Keys at the end.
I enjoyed the many things I could learn from author James Lee Burke; from the US Civil War, Vietnam war, WW2, Nazis, Iraq war, dialects, accents, plight of the poor, Katrina, the Gulf Oil "Spill", the psyche and integrity or lack thereof of our fellow man, Movies, Music, Cajuns, Creoles, Friendship, Joy, Alcohol, Heroin, Addiction, Torture, Beaches, Lesbians, Cross Dressers, Prison Inmates, the Elite Rich Class, Redemption, Dreams, Forgiveness and the list goes on and on. When you read a James Lee Burke story you can immerse yourself in his poetic descriptions of Louisiana and so much more.
