Glad it was short, glad it was inexpensive. Not a lot of information just commonsense ideas. Basically it tells you to get up early and get moving. Your brain works better in the morning. Try not to rush out of the house and start your day in a frenzy. Duh
This is another book where photos might have helped to keep things straight. If you did not grow up in this era or studied the astronaut program you might be a little lost. Loved hearing about it from the wives perspective. I have seen the documentary but was unable to locate it to re-watch it
Sure if you like learning about stars from that era
I am assuming there are a significant amount of photos with this book. I may have to get the kindle edition to complete the experience.
Print version of any book is better if you have the time to read.
There is nothing that compares to this
I doubt a film could be made and which version of the trip would it be
I eventually liked this book but there were many times I wanted to turn it off. Make sure you are familiar with John Waters material (and imagination) before buying this book. Parts of it are pretty raunchy and out of the box. If you really "get" John Waters you will eventually like this book
I like the way Tony Danza works in the major problems of todays education system.
A very good listen, too bad it didn't do better on TV.
The raw details
You really have to have a connection to Detroit to understand and enjoy this book. Knowing a little of Detroit history helps too. Kudos to whoever recorded this book....you got most of the Detroit and Michigan, streets/towns/landmarks pronounced correctly.....this has been a problem in the past. Sad to think that I can never go home again, not even to visit.
A former eastsider.
Probably not. It was just an ok story
Anyone who would bother to check and find out how the landmarks are prounced. For a native Detroiter it was almost painful to listen to.
Not pronouncing the names of landmarks and streets correctly really took away from the story. I've noticed this with a lot of audiobooks on Detroit. I've complained to different recording companies with no response. One phone call is all it would take to find out how words are pronounced in a certain area.
Don't lose your place in the last two downloads You'll never figure it out.
Only certain friends would appreciate this
An interesting listen, you have to have the right sense of humor and the ability to ignore the f-word. Most chicks wouldn't want to read it but I'm not most chicks, Adam Carolla makes a lot of interesting and valid points.
I learned a lot more about the politics that were going on when I was a child
The names of local places and streets are frequently mispronounced. The pronunciation of a major street in Detroit, Gratiot was almost unrecognizable. This is so distracting that it really should be rerecorded.
