This was a sweet resolution for a young couple with a little baggage. It is nice to revisit so many of the other couples and see some great progression in the story that is Virgin River. What a great town and great couples. This book was not a deep story with lots of drama and tragedy but good. This was a great series, though long I enjoyed it, there were highs and lows, good times and bad lots of twists and turns but good all in all.
Katherine "Kate" Hart is a 22 year old MIT graduate. She is a forensic accountant and an IT guru. She has mad skills and is extremely intelligent. Kate is feisty, driven, focused, can be a bit selfish/self-centered and at times argumentative. She grew up in a happy loving home, has not major hang ups, not body image issues.
Dominic is a 32 year old widower billionaire. He owns several corporations and is also very intelligent. He is a BDSM playboy, though that lifestyle doesn't show up much in this trilogy. Dominic is single minded, focused, driven, initially a bit shallow and self-focused. His childhood was affluent but emotionally painful. He doesn't always listen and is emotionally distant.
This book is the first in a trilogy, it is not meant to be a stand alone and ends in a cliffhanger. Don't get it thinking you will be able to stop after just 1.
I enjoyed this series greatly. The narrator was excellent. The language and editing used were first rate. The story grabbed me and sucked me in from the beginning. I definitely recommend it!
We have heart rendering pain, elated joy, a little fear, anger, frustration, sex and a distant picture of the future. What more do you want from the conclusion to a trilogy? Both Katherine and Dominic grew and changed as individuals and as a couple. I will keep this short simply because I don't want to give anything away, but it was an excellent series. One I will revisit and look forward to future work from this author, which was set up in the epilogue :)
This is a must read for me!
The second book picks up just as the first is ending. We meet up with Kate and Dominic again, see where they are and how they are doing.
I forgot to mention in the first book, these books are written in third person perspective so we not only see the thoughts of H/H but also from many others around them. It is very different, excellent!
There is a bit more angst in this story, Kate annoys me a tad more and Dominic just kind of pisses me off a few times. Growing pains and all. Hold on for the ride. When things are good, they are so good. These two are so similar to each other and they just don't see it. This is a necessary book and as with many second books of three this is the growing book. There is a lot of growth, change and a bit of revelation (mostly internal).
I've seen comments about not getting some conclusion or resolution with Dominic's parents, after learning about them more and more, I don't understand the point. We've met his mother twice by now and she is a NIGHTMARE! We meet his father briefly later on and he is as well. So my response to any thoughts or concerns on that simply is that I don't think the parents are currently relevant. They are relevant to the troubles in his past and the difficulties he now faces, but them presently would not help.
I love so many of the secondary characters. I really love that we get to see snippets of their thoughts as well.
On to book 3, will it be less difficult for our H/H? One can only hope!
I truly enjoyed this Cinderella story, I was in need of something a bit on the light and easy side. There were a couple of more emotional parts, highs and lows but all wrapped up in a quick 6 hours. I could have gone a bit longer, an epilogue into the future but all in all this was a good quick happy book. The female lead has low self esteem but over comes it, the male lead has a different kind of low esteem for himself believing no one can love him. They are well suited in that way. The butler and his wife, the head housekeeper are great secondary characters. This was an enjoyable listen. There is dual POV's in this story as well, which generally just help out, though it is mostly from the female's perspective.
This is simply the author talking about different aspects of the EXCELLENT Driven Series. The author tells us short snipets of Colton's perspective in specific chapter portions. These snipets are not at all threaded together or told in story form. I have no idea what the purpose of this was. I was excited to hear from Colton's perspective but this did nothing for me. I like to hear the STORY from dual POV's not just a quick half chapter or scene here and there. Honestly, some of that I would have been better off not getting into his head, kind of ruined the series for me.
Ups and downs, this is a great book! Get ready for a full emotional ride! I cried and laughed and yelled and smiled. I can't believe this is Paula's first book. Can't wait for the next one to come out. What a great story!!! So much happens I can't even go into it. This is an MC book, it is the full lifestyle, but there isn't the cheating stuff that I've seen in a couple others which for me is a no go! Instant return for cheaters. There are times I wanted to scream and throw things but will go back to again, this is a great story from a promising new author.
Okay, so I have a hard time with the female who pursues, I don't know why but I do...that said, Fynn pissed me off a lot so for me this book was good, but not a 5 star for me. I did like it, it was good, story progressed, we got to catch up with everyone which was great. Narrators are awesome, characters are well developed, everything we expect from these beautiful women! Thank you Christina Lauren!!! Yes, if you are in the series this is a must, if not, go back to Sweet Filthy Boy and start there. This is a complete book and can be listened to as a stand alone but you will be missing out on quite a bit, so just go back and listen to the first one first, then you will want to listen to this one!
This story is AMAZING. I don't know of many other books that have ripped my heart apart and sewn it back together with such joy. I am in total awe of Harlow, what a strong, stubborn and beautiful woman. She was never rude, catty or mean but stood up for herself with kindness and gentleness. I have cried so many times throughout this book. The first book was a great lead up, and was a bit emotional as well, but this one starts almost 2 months later. There are no games, no lies, but Grant grows so much and comes to truly understand what love is. Even Nan makes a cameo in kindness land, though I am still not a fan. I think there is a good change Nan will be getting a book of her own and though I will probably listen to it, I will be on the fence about it. I am excited for Bethy and Tripp but I know I will be crying then too!
Drama, hot sex, a hot, sweet, alpha fighter head over heals for a girl?
Jonah, a certified man-whore, MMA fighter who almost immediately falls head over heals for the sweet, loving, innocent but strong Raven. This is not a book where the couple fights their feelings until the last chapter and finally they admit their love, no, they fight and hold on throughout.
I wasn't sure after reading the publisher's summary but it was wonderful. There were some miscommunications, heart wrenching drama and pain, all making the story that much better. What a wonderful couple! The writing was great, narrators were good as well. I didn't have any irritated moments with voices (which is rare for me). There were no awkward word choices, which make me stop and wonder exactly what they meant or if that was a mistake. The writing style was compelling, professional and enthralling.
I would like to see farther into the future but I know there are more stories coming (already out in e-books) so hopefully will be audible soon and will give small glimpses into the lives of Jonah and Raven. The secondary characters were interesting and endearing, making me excited for future books.
Totally worth the credit!
Blake's book is next and I can't wait!
First, narration was TERRIBLE, the narrator was changed for this book and it was not good. I will not be listening to anything by her again.
The continuation of Seth and Olivia's story brings us back to a time when Olivia is a ditz and Seth is a jerk. There are things in this book that Seth does and says that can't be taken back and shouldn't be forgiven so quickly. I loved this series, this book was not up to par with this great couple. Jackson and Selena are completely insane and I have no interest in reading their book.
