Yes, I listen to it whenever I start to fall into old belief patterns about my body and/or food.
First of all, I have a lot of experience with Law of Attraction and with Hypnosis.I wasn't expecting this to work and more than comparable recordings, but it did. I was very thin until age 25 (34 now), and then some major blows to my self-esteem provoked addictive and emotional eating. I only gained about 15 pounds, but for almost 10 years, I was walking around in what felt someone else's body. I tried diets, non-diets, and psychotherapy to no avail.
I downloaded this the day before Thanksgiving (November 23rd), my last binge was December 8th (15 days into the program), and since then, I've lost 6 pounds and am starting to look like my old self. It's shocking. Yes, I'm eating less and exercising more, but the point is, I don't sabotage myself anymore. In the recording, he tells listeners they DESERVE to have a slim body, and that's how I feel now. The conflict is gone. One great thing - - the recording is quick! Only about 10 minutes, totally doable.He says it takes 21 days to take effect, and that was pretty much exactly spot-on for me. I think the secret is the the Ho'oponopono, especially when he guides you to a place of gratitude. I downloaded the Confidence and Soul Mate audio... this month Confidence, next month Soul Mate. I'll review those once I've given them time to marinate. HIGHLY recommended. I want to learn more about this man, he's totally on to something.
I was hoping to get instructions on how to creatively synthesize the various archangels when enlisting their help. Many of them have overlapping functions (protection and health, life purpose and intellect, beauty and nature), and it seems like there would be multiple angels ready to help in various situations but that each one might have a special edge or perspective (more than just a domain of influence). She covered a bit of this - for instance, noting that some angels are more assertive and others prefer that we take the lead... some have a good sense of humor, others are serious... But in all, the audio was a looooong list of archangels (way more than I wanted to hear about) along with their domain, their color/appearance, and some pivotal stories pertaining to each. I was a bit disappointed, but it did hold my attention for the entire 5 hours, so I give it 3/4 stars.
I really tried to listen to this, but the speaker was so fast I literally became dizzy and nauseous. I only absorbed about 10% of what I heard, and I had to take tums. It was like being on a spinning roller coaster.
The good and bad thing about this audiobook is that the most important tips & techniques are given right away, at the beginning. The descriptions of charisma as "warmth, presence, and power" were extremely helpful. I think about that all the time now. But the rest of the audio was basic, such as how to make eye contact, listen, and shake hands. Scattered throughout, there were some good tips on monitoring the pace and intonation of your voice. I just wish there had been more elaborate descriptions on how people perceive one another and maybe subtleties within the three "warmth, presence, power"... She does discuss combinations of the 3 and encourages people to make use of their "natural" talents rather than feeling like they have to be all things to all people.
I spend my working day analyzing double bind behavioral studies, and it's the last thing I want to listen to during my free time. I seek out audiobooks to motivate and inspire me, and that's it. Scientific backing isn't that important when it comes to finding new ways of 'pepping me up'. This audiobook was like overhearing a prof teaching an Intro to Social Psychology class. Interesting, but nothing that made me want to get into action or think about life differently.
I listen to a LOOOOT of audibooks on success and life transformations. The only thing new in this one (for me) was the idea of writing down the top 6 tasks one needs to do each day and then doing them first thing. I usually have about 20 things on my daily to-do list, so it was helpful to think about the most important 6 on any given day. But for time management, I prefer Brian Tracy, because he's more upbeat and kind of a coach.
This is great - I'm a huge fan of several leaders in the self-help movement, and M. Williamson is quickly becoming my favorite. Unlike some other prominent figures who seem to have gotten 'stuck' 5 or 15 years ago, she continues to develop, mature, and channel wisdom above and beyond my expectations. Her prayers are SOOOO powerful. I've pretty much stopped all affirmation and meditation in my daily spiritual practice and just use her prayers combined with various visualization and hypnosis tools when I have time. This particular audiobook is somewhat rambling and the sound quality is poor, but the insights are great. It isn't as much about romantic relationships as I was hoping. It's much more about our own identification with the 'need' to be in a relationship, which isn't really my problem - I find myself in a state of ambivalence about romance and this audiobook somewhatt increased my ambivalence. Still, it's gold.
I listen to about 75 self-help audio books per year. This is among the top 5-10%.
I love the story of the driver who has just moved from NY to L.A. in hopes of making it as an artist but is convinced he has to schmooze and appeal to pop culture in order to launch his career. I also love the scenario of imagining all former and future co-workers lined up as though in line for a movie with oneself inside the theater, sending love to all of them.
She is truly inspired. The advice is novel and pragmatic and she blends messages of taking responsibility with firm instructions to surrender control. She has a way of explaining these apparent contradictions in ways that makes sense.
One interesting proposition by MW: Rather than focusing on manifesting a 'positive outcome' as so many law of attraction teachings would have us do, she suggests we send love to all the people who will help us along the way - along with all the people *we* will help along in the process. She speaks of being receptive and loving toward strangers because you never know where job opportunities will come from. That was sobering. I realize I am impatient with strangers and random people I encounter because I'm so focused on trying to achieve outcomes. I now see how misguided this is!
It's one of those rare audio-books that gets better as it proceeds. The last few chapters have powerful and concise prayer ideas - so refreshing to hear senior teachers speak of love, service, and gratitude. Many New Age spiritual teachings are pandering to individualism and materialism. She doesn't say we should abandon material pleasures; quite the contrary! But we need to remember greater purpose, which is love toward God and one another. It's the true fuel for - and outcome of - manifesting.
I was dubious when I read comments (here and on amazon) that this was the best Law of Attraction around. I thought, "Surely these people haven't read and listened to as many books as I have!" I've read, listened, done coaching, taken workshops... for the most part, it has worked for me but there are some areas of my life in which I have been a bit stuck. In other areas, I'm able to attract the miracles and make the changes but not sustain them.
Although nothing he said was new to me, he really gets right to the heart of what causes resistance to attracting one's desires. And I'm SO GLAD he doesn't wax on about how thoughts are things or psychic phenomena are real (yes, I'm convinced, okay? I want practical tools, not scientific proof... proof is in the pudding). The two points most relevant to my situation are: A) Remember that many things influence one's level of vibration and it's important to be selective about the environments and people you're surrounded by; B) There is a fine line between identifying with your desired result and identifying with the person who is in the process of attaining the end result. I'm skilled at maintaining optimism, positive expectation, letting go, and being receptive, but over time I've developed the self concept of one who is happily working towards acquiring something rather than living it. As such, I attract more of the same happy planning and dreaming stages, never quite getting there.
The biggest benefit to me was his step-by-step process for helping the listener create an inspirational life vision. That's really the heart of it. Whenever I encounter road bumps, it seems as though my vision has either faded, is contradicting itself in some way, or is in need of revamping. I truly believe that I can come back to this exercise of Bob Doyle's again and again, year after year, to continuously recreate and realign with my vision.
I might never buy another law of attraction book/audio again!
Even though I was familiar with most of these ideas, the author stated the ideas in ways that really helped me specify my goal. I already knew the importance of stating the goal in positive, personal, present tense, but I'd never done anything like the exercise he takes listeners through towards the end of the audio. For the first time, I looked at my goal from every angle. I was able to imagine future scenarios with and without my desired outcome, and in doing so, I learned a lot about what has been holding me back from actualizing this goal/outcome in the first place. I was surprised and delighted. It was like uncovering a secret or remembering a dream I'd initially forgotten upon awakening. I spend a lot of time in self-awareness activities, so insights like this don't happen frequently anymore, the way they did when I was a self-development newbie. With poignancy, the exercise helped me see that my desired outcome is even MORE important to me than I would have guessed, and the consequences of NOT achieving this outcome are dire (think Scrooge, when he's visited by his Ghost of Christmas Future). How motivating! Thank you so much. What a wonderful way to spend $3 and 90 minutes of my time (90 minutes because I stopped the audio to write things down).
Worked like a charm. However, before doing this, I had to clear up some shame and guilt and feelings of undeservingness. If you are sure you want to lose weight and are ready to handle the almost inevitable positive results, do this. I listened to 1 track per day, exactly how she advised.
I recommend you follow her advice when she says not to start your diet until day 15. It's hard to wait, but those prep weeks were invaluable.
