The story was odd enough to be interesting. Listening to the reading, sometimes I got lost with who was said what to whom. One reader, sounding the same for most characters, with a lot of similar sounding names, ie: Dahl and Duval made listening confusing. Also a lot of conversations with the character saying something followed by "he said" or "she said" or "Dahl said" or "Duval said". Once I picked up on that, it made it groan worthy listening to an exchange of conversation between characters.
Perhaps. I would wait for some reviews.
little character variation
Still kept my attention, overlooking the he said she said moments.
Finally, the end!
Ties all the loose threads together, mostly successfully. Sanderson actually writes a bit more focused than Jordan did, so not a lot of meandering text. Things happen all throughout the book to keep your attention.
I've listened to the whole series, and these voice actors do a great job. They have put a lot of hours into the readings, and I will have to say I will lean towards listening to a book read by either in the future.
The ending, and knowing this was the last of it.
I recommending listening to the whole series, though only if you have above average endurance. Books 4-9 are a bit tedious if I remember correctly. Jordan tended to wander about, stretching the series on a bit past what it needed to be. A good editor would have helped trim some of the fat from the books. This series could have been compacted down into 7 or 8 books, I imagine. Still, it is a good listen if you have the time and patience to see it through.
The reader of the book does a great job with the characters. I would rank it in the top 50.
He does a great job reading. I would be interested in looking into other books that he has read. He has a wealth of character voices that he uses to draw you into the story.
Aliens attack, earth defends.
Most of the story is pretty solid. Some of the story elements seemed contrived at times, but an overall enjoyable listen.
Superheros surviving a zombie apocalypse.
World War Z? Though the superhero twist definitely changes the flavor.
Jay was the stronger voice actor, he had a wider range of character voices. Each seemed unique. Khristine, while good, seemed very similar in each role.
