I enjoyed this book almost from the first few paragraphs and it delighted me as it went on to a very interesting plot. The description of the war time rationing and the way of life was something I knew about from my grandmother but the story helped me understand how the people coped with everyday life. I fell in love with the characters, reveled in the thrill of being a spy. enjoyed the travelling with the agents. Well done well researched.

I wasnt sure I would enjoy this story as it had a lot of war in it but I really enjoyed it. Jennifer Van dyk was a great narrator and made the story come alive. The description of the towns and citadels made it easy to imagine you where right there with them. I look forward to reading and listening to more of these stories.

After her mother died, vivacious Katey Tyler fled her dull Connecticut town, hoping to meet her relatives in England and find adventure and romance on a grand tour of Europe. She had no idea that her life-changing travels would have both in spades - as well as danger and intrigue - when she catches the eye of ship owner Boyd Anderson and inadvertently stumbles upon a high-stakes kidnapping.

I enjoyed this story. It was an enjoyable romance. Towards the end I just wanted to shake the two main characters but I loved the history and romantic period the story was set in. The narrator was good although I wasnt so keen on her male voices.

I would recommend this story I had no trouble in getting into the story and found it hard to stop listening to it. I liked the way it brought forth the two sides of racial problems based on nationalities or just looks.
I had a giggle at the accent and the mans view of sex.

New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon enchanted scores of fans with Outlander, her electrifying historical saga set in 18th-century Scotland. Now this sequel sweeps listeners back into the past as Claire relates more of her perilous sojourn there with her Scottish warrior husband, James Fraser. Twenty years after her strange journey back in time, Claire has returned to Scotland with her daughter, determined to share with her the secret she has harbored since her time travel.

I actually started reading this series of Diana Gabaldon first. I could not believe the research, the descriptions and the way the whole story just captured your imagination. I love the way she writes and I think of the whole 3 series this one was my favourite. Well worth listening too. Davina Porter does an excellent job of the narration.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

The novel has a excellent story line and you get to love and know the characters, especially Claire and Jamie. Davina Porter does all the voices of the characters in a superb way of making you think it is really them. Loved the series.

Daughters of Eden focuses on the lives and fortunes of four very different young women at the outbreak of the Second World War. Marjorie, left at a boarding school by her emigrating mother; plain Poppy, pushed into marriage with a mean-spirited aristocrat; Kate, despised by her father, but determined to prove herself; and man-mad Lily, who turns out to be the bravest of them all. That all of them are chosen to work undercover for the espionage unit at Eden Park is a surprise, not least to them.

AmyX says: "An amazing book everyone should read."

I must say I loved both this book and "the house of flowers" by Charlotte Bingham. They were books I did not want to finish reading. Kim Hicks narratation also is wonderful. A thoroughly enjoyable read and I learnt a few facts about life pre world war 2.
