Stephen Mitchell, the renowned translator of the Tao Te Ching, selected excerpts from that ancient text as a stimulus for Byron Katie to talk about the most essential issues that face us all: life and death, good and evil, love, work, and fulfillment. The result is an audiobook that allows the timeless insights of the Tao Te Ching to resonate anew for us today, while offering a vivid and illuminating glimpse into the life of someone who lives what Lao-tzu wrote more than 2,500 years ago.

What did you love best about A Thousand Names for Joy?

Katie is on another plane but she's here to help us reach a higher ground. It's something to keep practicing. Can't just listen to it once and walk away. She opens doors for us and, I, for one am grateful for these recordings.

What does Byron Katie and Stephen Mitchell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening is definitely easier than reading it. It seems to be more absorbable that way.

If you could sum up Eat to Live in three words, what would they be?

    Reasonable, balanced and nutritious

What other book might you compare Eat to Live to and why?

It can't be compared to other books of it's kind and I believe it will become a classic.

    Any additional comments?

Dr. Fuhrman makes a lot of sense. This nutrition aproach can be the cornerstone of a healthy diet.

  • The Art of Fermentation: An In-Depth Exploration of Essential Concepts and Processes from Around the World

The Art of Fermentation is the most comprehensive guide to do-it-yourself home fermentation ever published. Sandor Ellix Katz presents the concepts and processes behind fermentation in ways that are simple enough to guide listeners through their first experience making sauerkraut, and in-depth enough to provide greater understanding for experienced practitioners. While Katz contextualizes fermentation in terms of biological and cultural evolution, nutrition, and even economics, this is primarily a compendium of practical information.

You must really be into food fermentation to enjoy this book. Having said that, this is a wonderful and technical book on fermentation. Everything you want to know about it.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

    Overall

This was my first audio book and what a great first choice. This was such a wonderful story that I am hooked on audio books for life. Listening to " the help" you really feel like you are there in Mississippi being told the story by the women in the book. The story is riveting and never have I felt so much a part of what was happening in the story. I loved every minute of it.
