American soldiers serve willingly. They risk their lives so the rest of us can be safe. The one small thing they ask is that they not be sent into harm's way unless it is absolutely necessary.

Like it or not, Hillary Clinton is almost assuredly going to run for president in 2008. It doesn't matter that her negative poll numbers are high or that her past 15 years in the public eye have been anything but smooth. Since she was a little girl she has dreamed about becoming the first female president, and now that dream is well within reach.

Weak and pathetic, does not hold up to scrutiny

On the morning that will mark the end of the world they have known, Molly and Neil Sloan awaken to the drumbeat of rain on their roof. It has haunted their sleep, invaded their dreams, and now they rise to find a luminous silvery downpour drenching their small California mountain town. A strange scent hangs faintly in the air, and the young couple cannot shake the sense of something wrong.

Jaimie says: "And the point was...?"
    "Don't bother"
    Overall

I generally love Dean Koontz's books including their idiocyncraticlly charming characters, wonderful animals & just the right amount of scare-factor. But this book is unrelentingly moralistic, preachy & heavy-handed with only the most slender of story lines wrapped around his message.
