Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered— and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin….Since then, she's learned to read, she's learned to fight and she's become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she's made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

    Story

The narrator is superb! Her characterizations are wonderful. The story is enthralling although sometimes a bit too dark for me, involving some fairly grisly murders. I'm willing to get past that though for the enjoyment of Khristine Hvam's amazing narration. She gives alien characters truly believable voices.

I liked this one so much in fact that I purchased the next in the series. So there you are, how's that for a recommendation!

Recommended with the one caveat that I would not listen to this while falling asleep, (which is one of my favorite things to do with audio books), just because it has some rather gruesome descriptions. Other than that, a truly enjoyable story and narration.

Rizzo's War, Lou Manfredo's stunningly authentic debut, partners a rookie detective with a seasoned veteran on his way to retirement in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn."There's no wrong, there's no right, there just is." This is the refrain of Joe Rizzo, a decades-long veteran of the NYPD, as he passes on the knowledge of his years of experience to his ambitious new partner, Mike McQueen, over a year of riding together as detectives in the Sixty-second Precinct in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

    Story

As if the story wasn't good enough, add in Bobby Cannavale with gorgeous inflections of tone and you've got one superb audio book. The story is good and has enough twists and subplots to keep me guessing. I'm a big mystery buff and have listened to tons of Robert B. Parker with Joe Mategna narrating. This one surpasses even Joe. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good old fashioned detective novel, complete with wide eyed rookie and hard boiled old-timer.

Pride and Prejudice has delighted generations of readers with its unforgettable cast of characters, carefully choreographed plot, and a hugely entertaining view of the world and its absurdities. With the arrival of eligible young men in their neighbourhood, the lives of Mr and Mrs Bennet and their five daughters are turned inside out and upside down.

Lindsay Duncan is a talented narrator, giving inflection and color to each character. Her take on Mrs. Bennett made me laugh out loud a couple of times. Really delightful! She really got the "poor me" whiny voice of Mrs. Bennett without making it grate on my ears. I love Jane Austen and especially Pride and Prejudice, so it goes without saying that I love the story. It's a classic for good reason!

This makes it an absolute joy to commute! I find myself sitting in the driveway not actually wanting to get out of the car!

Lovely melodic tone, great story, what more could you want? Highly recommended.

Like every other hobbit, Bilbo Baggins likes nothing better than a quiet evening in his snug hole in the ground, dining on a sumptuous dinner in front of a fire. But when a wandering wizard captivates him with tales of the unknown, Bilbo becomes restless. Soon he joins the wizard’s band of homeless dwarves in search of giant spiders, savage wolves, and other dangers. Bilbo quickly tires of the quest for adventure and longs for the security of his familiar home. But before he can return to his life of comfort, he must face the greatest threat of all.

I haven't even finished this one and I can't wait to start the next. I am enthralled with this unabridged version. And Rob Inglis' narration is delicious indeed! The story springs to life with the various characters as Mr. Inglis deftly changes inflection and tone, giving each character a unique "voice".

The story itself is Tolkien at his best. Full of mystery and humor, daring-do and lots of twists. It will keep everyone enthralled!

Delightful in every way! A must listen for all! (Not just us Hobbits!)

Even before the Beatles hit the big time, a myth was created. This version of the Beatles legend smoothed the rough edges and filled in the fault lines, and for more than forty years this manicured version of the Beatles story has sustained as truth, until now.

Engaging, full of detail and well paced. Loads of information, background and juicy bits. Alfred Molina's narration is fabulous!! His inflection and pace are great and he infuses the story with plenty of character. Highly recommended.

The eagerly awaited new audiobook from the Emmy-winning, Oscar-hosting, Daily Show-anchoring Jon Stewart - the man behind the megaseller America (The Book). Where do we come from? Who created us? Why are we here? These questions have puzzled us since the dawn of time, but when it became apparent to Jon Stewart and the writers of The Daily Show that the world was about to end, they embarked on a massive mission to write a book that summed up the human race.

Jack Ryan, the former president of the United States, is out of office, but not out of the loop about his brainchild, the “Campus” - a highly effective, counter-terrorism organization that operates outside the Washington hierarchy. But what Ryan doesn’t know is that his son, Jack Ryan, Jr., has joined his cousins, Brian and Dominic Caruso, at the shadowy Campus. While a highly effective analyst, young Ryan hungers for the action of a field agent.

I found myself leaving the house early for class just so I could listen to this audiobook in the car. Really great narration by Lou Diamond Phillips. Wonderfully taut and gripping action throughout. Couldn't "put it down!" Highly recommended!
