Near the top as far as fiction is concerned. I've read some great non-fictions too i.e.Unbroken, The Secret Race. Forgotten uses real places and events but cleverly disguises it in a rather unlikely story. Suspending disbelief was no problem since everyone knew it was fiction.

The Innocent; anther Baldacci book. Same kind of fast pace, not sure who to trust, kind of story.

I listen to all kinds of books, fiction and nonfiction. Frequently tell my wife that the non-fictions I listen to are crazier than the fiction books. Garden of Beasts is no exception. I knew very little about pre WWII Germany and how the U.S. viewed the Nazi regime before war broke out. I learned a lot of history. I can't say I "enjoyed" the read, but I was sucked into it. I would highly recommend it.

Being a snitch for the FBI can sometimes but not always be dangerous to your health. I learned a lot about the government's witness protection program. I hope I never have to rely on it.

The plot moved along at a nice pace. I knew twists and turns were coming, and I enjoyed them when they arrived.

I would recommend NYPD Red if the reader enjoys reading about the misfortunes of others. Serial killer stories are compelling but not altogether believable. It was a fairly short book with a lot of action. It certainly kept my interest.

The plot involving the police trying to find the killer was quite engaging. I liked how the voices changed from killer to detective.

Great readers like Mr. Davis brings the story alive. If you just read it, the material might get a little dry.

There were several. The standoff at Fort Sumter was pretty bizarre. It might have started the war when it all seemed a little silly. I also enjoyed reading about President Lincoln. Can't wait to see the movie.

Generally, I liked the book because I wanted to better understand American History in that era. I never realized how slavery was such a big deal back then...especially viewing it in 21st century lens. Slavery was simply despicable and was somehow allowed to continue in the slave states. It's hard to reconcile All Men are Created Equal in the Declaration of Independence while the author of this document owned (and fornicated with) slaves. Go figure.

Great story. The characters were quite believable...almost real. It was easy to get into the flow of the book from the start.

Loved Sadie. If there's a gal like her out there and she's married, then her husband is one lucky guy.

Loved the diner owner's character voice. Is it Al? Forgot his name. Anyway, loved that guy.

I love to learn how things unfold behind the scenes. I am not a pilot, but I learned a lot about what it is like being a pilot and how they respond to emergencies. I also learned a lot about the "fly by wire" planes that we all fly as passengers. I truly enjoyed the book.
