  • The Last Man: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By Vince Flynn
    • Narrated By George Guidall
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

    K says: "Couldn't be better...except"
    "Great book as usual"
Where does The Last Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book rates among the top 10 books in my entire audio book collection, and as usual Vince Flynn didn't disappoint!

What other book might you compare The Last Man to and why?

This book, as with all the other Vince Flynn novels are right at the top of my list. Compared to the other books in Flynn's novel list.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, all of the Flynn series as well as Alex Berensen, and some others.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Didn't make me laugh or cry but kept me on the edge as usual.

    Any additional comments?

  • Dark Descent

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Kevin F. McMurray
    • Narrated By Michael Prichard

At more than a hundred feet deep in the frigid Gulf of St. Lawrence, diving the Empress is like trying to navigate an unfamiliar sixty-story building lying on its side at a forty-five-degree angle, in pitch blackness with only a flashlight. In Dark Descent, Kevin McMurray takes us deep into the bowels of the lost ship, first to relive her tragic death and then to join the divers who have probed the wreck's secrets. It's an adventure from which some divers don't return.

    William says: "Poor Descent"
    "Good book, great story."
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, actually because I am a diver I have recommended this book to the rest of my dive club. it's a very interesting book with a great story line. the main problem is the narrator makes the story some what dry.

What other book might you compare Dark Descent to and why?

The last dive. Simular content and subject, very goodx narration.

What three words best describe Michael Prichard’s voice?

    Dry, dry, dry!

Did Dark Descent inspire you to do anything?

yes, go and dive the shipwrecks

  • A Hunger for the Infinite: A Galactic Center Story

    • UNABRIDGED (1 hr and 46 mins)
    • By Gregory Benford
    • Narrated By Robin Sachs

A Hunger for the Infinite, which first appeared in Robert Silverberg's Far Horizons anthology, is a novella that takes place in the universe of "The Galactic Center Saga", detailing a galactic war between mechanical and biological life. Here, the pilots had made it to True Center in order to destroy something, anything, important to the Mechs, but Paris had something else on his mind. A story of the Mantis, and the decline of humans beginning in 3600 AD.

    Michale says: "Haunting"
    "Short and boring"
What did you like best about A Hunger for the Infinite? What did you like least?

Either I didn't understand this book or it was just too boring. Didn't really grab me like I hoped or waited for it to do. By the time I started getting interested in it, it was over. Sad but short.

What could Gregory Benford have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Added some additional adventure and storyline

What three words best describe Robin Sachs’s voice?

    Dry, dull, unemotional.

Did A Hunger for the Infinite inspire you to do anything?

    Stop listening
