"Delightful change of pace"
The narrator of this beautiful story is perfect. This is the type of story that will charm and delight you. You will come away with your senses aware of the passing seasons, the desire to set high ambitions and a new way of seeing the romance of the everyday. It's a lovely listen.
"Captivating"
Amazing career in Art
This book was such an intriguing and interesting story. Ken Perenyi is brilliant and very honest about how he operated. It will fascinate you and make you very careful about trusting art experts in the future.
"Detailed view into the Kennedy world"
I would say the three aspects I would use are "history, the value of education and the value of connections".
I enjoyed the details provided by Smith--she really gets down the day-to-day information.
"Great information but quite redundant"
Great information about how the brain works in middle age
Good data
Very good inflection and narration
There are waaaay too many examples of forgetfulness. We know already since most listeners already experience these difficulties. The book is very good but could have been lightened up a bit.
"This one is a bit creepy"
Great book although there is a lot of detail that makes it a bit hard as an audio book. The characters are described in vivid detail and you'll feel like you know them. I found myself pondering if there are Psychopaths all around me--it becomes kind of spooky if you think too much on it. The book is vivid and bold; worth a listening but keep the lights on.
"Unique point of view"
Amy Chua is an ernest and dedicated Tiger Mom. It was good to hear the story in her voice because she captured nuances another narrator might have missed. Her story is engaging and will really make you think about our Western way of viewing achievement, dedication, discipline and individualism. She made me want to add more discipline but also made me aware of how we place importance on being social. We might eliminate so many play-dates and add more music practice in our household, but maybe not. See what you think!
"Great food for thought"
This is one of the usual very well put-together Malcolm Gladwell books. By being read by the author, you get the full impact of the points he is trying to make. I found this to be another excellent book that has given me much to ponder and reflect upon. I highly recommend it.
