The cast and crew of this piece made Zahn's book come alive, and I very much enjoyed it. The sound effects are jolting if you are expecting a quiet listen however, but I have to say it is well done.
Finally , a book about someone other than Z ! This book is a wonderful story , about one of the most interesting characters in the MHI universe - Earl Harbinger. You don't need to have read the other MHI books to love this gem , and it is a galloping trip thru MHI history . Olvier Wyman does a first rate job with the material , and the story is fast paced and engaging.
This book and this audiobook both are the sort of thing you will come back to again and again , and that you will want to push on all your friends. The audiobook version is brilliantly read and practically perfect in every way. Give it a try , you will not be sorry you did !
The Vimes/City Watch story line has a lot of amazing stories , this sadly isn't one of them. The pacing feels forced , and it is just neither really funny nor engrossing . Stephen Briggs does his usual wonderful job with it , and it is still an order of magnitude better than Unseen Academicals . It isn't a bad story , just not up to the standards of most of the classic Discworld stories .
I have to say that this is an beautiful little terror , and a piece of writing that made me shudder a bit in happy anticipation. Neil Gaiman is amazing as an author and a reader , so get off your butt and get this download !
I love it when Stephen King reads his own work , and I loved the whole trip he takes us through the Gunslingers world. Taking place before the Dark Tower series began it's shark approach it is a wonderful listen !
Cold Days was a hard hitting a fun ride , without making spoilers happen I can say that it was great to hear James doing narration again , he brings the series alive . The book opens up Dresden's new life as Mab's enforcer and starts the ball rolling to the Apocalyptic Trilogy that's coming up. You'll get answers - but not the ones you want to many questions , and see a lot of long lost faces. Give it (and all the Dresden Files) a shot , you will be glad you did !
Mr Levine has done a very good job of bringing this book , with it's host of oddball characters and puns to life , and a few nitpicky details aside I have to say he did an exemplary job. I was used to the original reader of the series , and it takes a little getting used to , but he has a great range and there is a lot of fun to be had here. Please give it a try !
This book was really engaging even without the ghost story , with it it is an unforgettable read . Also if you have ever had to go through rehab after an accident , you will find this book VERY accurate and uplifting. I really found myself liking all the characters in this one and of course being rather horrified for them as it unfolded. It helped me get through stroke rehab , so I'm biased. Go read / hear this book.
Nick Pollotta is a gem , and his work in it's myriad of forms (he has more pseudonyms than I can easily recall) is always fun . This collection of his early stories is a lot of fun and is a great way to kill an evening.
One of the best Neil Gaiman pieces out there , it is the usual mix of the bizarre , the scary , the heartwrenching and the humor that will make this into a go to book for you forever. Both the audiobook and the movie adaptation are wonderful . Go ahead , buy this book !
