Callahan Garrity is the owner of House Mouse, a cleaning service that tidies up after Atlanta's elite. She's also a former cop and a part-time sleuth. She and her coterie of devoted helpers can ransack a house for clues faster than it takes a fingerprint to set. Some people might call Callahan Garrity nosy, but she prefers to think of her tendency toward snooping as a healthy interest in the truth. So when news reaches her of her cousin Patti's death during a carjacking, Callahan shakes off her House Mouse cleaning uniform to don her detective's cap.

THIS STORY IS A LITE MYSTERY BUT WELL WORTH THE CREDIT. FULL OF LAUGHS, SO MUCH TO FIND OUT WHILE CLEANING AND SLEUTHING FOR A MURDERER OF YOUR BEST FRIEND. CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS, IS MORE THAN AN EXPRESSION, THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN IT WILL NEVER LET YOU REST TILL YOU UNDERSTAND, THE WHY.

When a casino robbery in Atlantic City goes horribly awry, the man who orchestrated it is obliged to call in a favor from someone who's occasionally called Jack. While it's doubtful that anyone knows his actual name or anything at all about his true identity, or even if he's still alive, he's in his mid-30s and lives completely off the grid, a criminal's criminal who does entirely as he pleases and is almost impossible to get in touch with.

Betsy introduces the look-alikes and they quickly hit it off. But then Jan's wealthy great-aunt is found dead, helped to her grave by a stiff metal wire --a double-zero knitting needle, in fact. Just like the kind Jan knits with.

What made the experience of listening to Something Wicked the most enjoyable?

THE STORY LINE WAS EXTREMLY WELL DONE.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

NO, IT WAS ONE I COULD STOP AND RESTART AND BE QUITE AWARE OF WHERE I LEFT OFF; HAVING SAID THAT, I MUST SAY OUT OF ALL THE SUSPECTS, CAROLYN HART PULLED OFF A WONDERFUL ENDING.

What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

OH MY, SHE BRINGS THE CHARACTERS ALIVE. SHE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE NARRATORS. I SEE HER NAME, AND I WILL LISTEN TO THE BOOK, IF THERE IS NO UNNESSARY SEX AND VIOLENCE.

    Any additional comments?

    WELL WORTH THE CREDIT.

Would you consider the audio edition of Decaffeinated Corpse to be better than the print version?

EXPRESSION, IN MY OPINON, IS WHAT CAN MAKE OR BREAK A BOOK. REBECCA HAD TO COVER QUITE A FEW VOICES, FROM THE VERY OLD, HAUTY, AND TEENAGE, MANY MENS VOICES AND SHE COVERED THEM ALL WITHOUT SKIPPING ABIT. THAT IS VERY HARD TO DO AS I TOOK EXPRESSION LESSONS WHILE GROWING UP AND HAD TO MEMORIZE WHOLE PLAYS, I WAS VERY NERVOUS BUT I LEARNED HOW TO USE YOUR VOICE AND LUNGS TO MAKE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS COME ALIVE. NO BIG BREATHS INBETWEEN THE CHANGE AS MANY NARRATORS DO. SO SHE IS A SURE 5 IN MY BOOK.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Decaffeinated Corpse?

    THE HALLOWEEN PARTY.

What about Rebecca Gibel’s performance did you like?

THE EXCELLENT WAY SHE MADE A STORY ABOUT COFFEE INTO A GREAT MYSTERY.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

NEITHER, BUT IT KEEP ME UP TILL I HAD IT FINISHED. THERE ARE NOT MANY THAT CAN DO THAT OUT OF ALL OF AUDIBLE BOOKS. A MEMORABLE COZY BOOK.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES. THIS IS A GREAT MYSTERY WHICH MAKES YOU SO HAPPY TO HAVE TAKEN THE CHANCE AND BOUGHT A BOOK YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT. I KNOW THE AUTHOR IS GOOD, I WAS KIND OF PUT OFF BY THE TITLE AND THE FIRST CHAPTER WAS RATHER SLOW.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax?

THE GREAT STAMINA OF MRS. POLIFAX AND HER LOVELY QUICK MIND.

Which character – as performed by Barbara Rosenblat – was your favorite?

MRS. POLLIFAX. A HARD JOB TO SPEAK WITH WHAT YOU TAKE FOR AN EIGHTY YEAR OLD WOMAN. BARBARA ROSENBLAT IS AN ACCOMPLISHED NARRATOR, I HAVE YET TO FIND A BOOK SHE HAS READ, THAT GOES AWRAY.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO, I COULD WAIT FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS TO GET IT ALL LISTENED TOO. WHILE THE STORY LINE WAS GOOD IT WAS NOT RIVETING.

    Any additional comments?

THE NARRATOR, MADE THIS BOOK COME ALIVE AND BE ENJOYABLE. THANKS BARBARA.
