Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back. The brassy babe in the powder blue Buick has been given the unpopular task of finding Mo Bedemier, Trenton's most beloved citizen, arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, gone no-show for his court appearance. Once again, the entire One for the Money crew is in action, searching for Mo, tripping down a trail littered with dead drug dealers, leading Stephanie to suspect Mo may be in over his head.

I can't believe it took so long for us to get the unabridged version of books 2 & 3. It was well worth the credit. Cant wait for the unabridged version of book 1.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The personalities of Sean & Michelle seems to have changed, don't know if this was the narration or the actual story. I liked the pair in the other novels, but now couldn't care what happens to them at all.I was very disappointed in the story. There was no real mystery in either of the two short stories which were combined to make a novel lenght book.

Would you recommend First Family to your friends? Why or why not?

There are so many really great audio books available, I could not recommend this particular one.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Ron Larty naratted well, but I did not like how Michelle was portrayed. But that could have been the authors fault.

    Any additional comments?

I read the first few books in this series, but I don't think I'll be reading any more. Anyone got a really good mystery writer they would like to recommend.

What did you love best about One for the Money?

One for the Money is the first enstallment of Stephanie Plum's adventures (mishaps) and I found the series as a whole, laugh out loud funny and very enjoyable. Many will tire out around 15. But all seem to enjoy the ride.

What was one of the most memorable moments of One for the Money?

There are just too many memorable moments in Stephanie's life to list. You will laught when you hear how she handles all those little life moments.

What aspect of C. J. Critt’s performance would you have changed?

I don't understand why the abbridged recording is read by Lori Petty. She reads at a very fast pace but conveys Stephanie very well. C.J. Kritt is just too slow and drawn out. Steph's from Jersey and a Jersey Gal would never draw it out. If you can adjust the narration speed do it. The abbridged verision is about 3 hours and does cut down on a lot of the sceens, but is also good. (if C.J. read it it would have lasted 5 hours)

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127, Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Please don't waist your money or your credit on Explosive Eighteen.
The cliff hanger and tickler gave me great hope for this installment; however, who ever wrote this book, did not know about the cliff-hnager.
What happened in Hawaii took maybe 5 sentences.

Explosive Eighteen closes the casket on Stephine Plum in such a way that evey Grandma Mazur wouldn't care to look.

So sorry to see the death of this series.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and no one knows this better than New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. Dead bodies are showing up in shallow graves on the empty construction lot of Vincent Plum Bail Bonds. No one is sure who the killer is, or why the victims have been offed, but what is clear is that Stephanie’s name is on the killer’s list. Short on time to find evidence proving the killer’s identity, Stephanie faces further complications when her family and friends decide that it’s time for her to choose between her longtime off-again-on-again boyfriend and the other bad boy in her life....

Ok, I haven't listened to it yet, but 6 hours? Is someone phoning it in?
The last two books used gimmics from prior novels.

I'm hoping this one saves the series for me, if not I'm done with Ms. Evanovich.

In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

A philosophical novel was a very different listen for me. And I enjoyed it. I was amazed that a book written in '57 could be so timeless. I don't have anything bad to say of Scott Brick narration (but I did keep waiting to hear”Coryism".)

I find it frightening that I know these characters. I work with some of them. I see others just gaming the system. I see others just yelling for the better off to give till they can’t. Scary if it gets as far as it did in Atlas Shrugged. It was nice to see the upper-class divided between “those who make it happen” and the “greedy power hungry so called activists” who simply take from others using ultimately self-serving rationalization.

Was it repetitive? No. Did the characters repeat themselves? Yes. We all know the more you say it the truer it is. Did some of the rhetoric become basic? Yes, but the public needs to be lead (books premise not mine). Was there any part which could have been shorter? Yes, but it is what it is, and you are not the first to notice it. Does it make you think and question? Yes and that is why it was so good.
