"True Life in Africa"
I only listened to this book because it was an Oprah book pick. I?m glad I did. The story weaves back and forth and really comes together at the end. You see the story of two families at opposing ends of the same situation and at opposite ends of South African societal privilege. It sounded like an older recording, but was still palatable.
"Brilliant"
Like the other reviewers, there were times in the beginning where my mind wandered, but stick with it. The ending gave me a huge one two punch I never expected nor did I see it coming. It's great and made me wish I had payed closer attention to all the details, since you will find out that they all matter so much.
"Fun Fun Fun"
I Love Janet Evanovich. I never read this type of ?lighthearted fiction? until I was stuck on a long flight and I ended up laughing lots along the way. A good time and I have fun visualizing the scenes. Stephanie Plum is a great character- her life and her family is an enjoyable mess.
"Full of Honey"
An ultimately sweet, sugary story that does have some minor holes my analytical mind can't help but pick up on, but is nonetheless very likable. The narrator was great in the role. However, her put-on Southern accent would have been fine except for the fact that she butchered some southern words like "kudzu". Any real southerner worth their grits would know how to say it properly- but a minor detail in an enjoyable, light book.
"Ignorance isn't bliss"
WoW! I had this title lurking in my "to download" box for longer than I should have. This is a great, informative listen. I use to just feel for the poor animals at slaughter, now it's the workers too.
"Go ahead and get it- the 20 hours will fly by"
This story is extremely memorable. I probably will never forget the burning of Smyrna and the flying Caddy parts-ever! I started to tell a friend what a great audio book this is and she wanted to know about the story. I couldn?t do it justice and if you only heard a brief premise you might incorrectly assume that the book wasn?t for you. It humanizes a difficult situation and brings you as close as you can get to Cal?s current plight in life, which otherwise might be judged based on preconceived notions. Instead the author brings you face to face with Cal's world, his parent?s world and his grandparent?s world which explains where he is today. Absolutely wonderful story. Thanks to the author and reader!
"Regretable"
I?ll know to investigate a book and its genre further before buying and not just rely on the folks that give it stellar reviews. I only purchased this Audio download due to all the positive reviews. It?s very dark, weird and supernatural in a disturbing kind of way. I?ve made it to chapter 4 and now realize that I need to cut my losses, delete it and move on??
"Lots of Fun - Thought provoking mystery"
I wore headsets around the house for two days, instead of the normal car use, because I was so interested in the plot of this book. The folks who are giving it negative reviews are upset that what they have been told and believed all of their life may be called into question by some information presented in this work. Great story. The author clearly did his homework. It?s a #1 best seller for a reason.
"Doreen is an Angel walking among us"
This audio recording is absolutely uplifting and teaches you how to connect to your angels. I love this information and have already seen results! Highly advisable to listen :) Susan McCoy
