"Interesting from beginning to end"
I enjoyed the historical detail about a time which I was just a bit too young to remember clearly and the rather dynamic juxtaposition of scenes from then and a just slightly future "now" that plausibly imagines what will come out of today's trends.
I very much liked the character of the protagonist, Karen Hollander and the way she was voiced by the narrator, Vanessa Hart.
"A well-told, intriguing story."
This story is so well researched and rich in detail. It takes an unlikely proposition and makes it completely believable. The characters of Sherlock Holmes and Mary Russell are explored with depth and subtlety. The writing evokes (just) post-Victorian England both in style and plentiful historical detail.
Ms Sterlin read eloquently and with good command of accents and voice characterisation.
