  • Double or Nothing

    • UNABRIDGED (2 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By M. D. Baer
    • Narrated By Full Cast

North San Diego County...a gifted pianist...a beautiful violinist...a multi million-dollar land deal. Here is a Audio Movie story of intrigue, mystery, and murder in the comic-noir tradition. What is an Audio Movie? It's an image-rich listening experience - a combination of narration, full-cast dialogue, music, and layered sound design created specifically for audio. Call it cinema for the mind.

I'm not sure which I disliked more, the acting or the writing. I thought the story was dull and it moved to slowly. The acting was distracting. I would pass on this one.

  • The Protector

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By David Morrell
    • Narrated By Stefan Rudnicki

Cavanaugh, a former member of Delta Force, is hired by a brilliant scientist named Prescott who needs protection from a drug lord seeking the highly addictive drug he has invented. At least that is what Cavanaugh is led to believe. After Cavanaugh trains the scientist in escape and evasion, the unthinkable occurs: Cavanaugh's team is viciously attacked and entirely wiped out - and Prescott seems to be in collusion with the attackers.

Barbara A. Russell says: "Excellent story, not a dull moment."
    "One Exciting Ride"

This book is one exciting ride. It is well written with plenty of plot twists and decent character development. I loved it. It was hard to turn off the CD when it came time to get out of the car.

  • The Guardian

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Nicholas Sparks
    • Narrated By Isabel Keating

Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died - a puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now, four years later, 29-year-old Julie is far too young to have given up on love. She may be ready to risk caring for someone again. But who?

    "A Little Different"

This book is worth the time to listen, but does move a little slowly. It is not quite as sappy as his previous books--quite a statement about Sparks.

  • All He Ever Wanted

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 34 mins)
    • By Anita Shreve
    • Narrated By Dennis Boutsikaris

A man escaping from a hotel fire glimpses a woman standing beneath a tree. He approaches her and sets in motion a series of events that will change his life forever. Years later, traveling from New England to Florida by train, he reflects on his obsession with this unknown and ultimately unknowable woman, his courtship of her, his marriage to her, and the unforgivable act that ripped their family apart.

    Peggie says: "Highly Recommended"
    "Classic Shreve"

This is a classic Shreve book. Everything is written in reverse and really doesn't make sense until the end. But it was enjoyable, if not realistic. Can anybody be that obsessed?

  • The Nanny Diaries

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By Emma McLaughlin, Nicola Kraus
    • Narrated By Julia Roberts

"It appears that the help has been taking notes, and good ones. The help is very sharp-eyed indeed. The Nanny Diaries is diabolically funny...vastly entertaining...perfectly pitched social satire," raves The New York Times. Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts narrates this popular and critically acclaimed book - an enthusiastic skewering of high society written by two former nannies.

    Joanne says: "The Nanny Diaries"

There is not enough humor in this book to be considered satire. It comes off as resentful and depressing. The whole nanny situation seems a sad state of affairs.
