The author spins a great tale of modern life of lesbians with style and grace. I kept listening to see how the couple would end up and was about ready to throw my Ipod against a wall when all looked like disaster. But the ending worked and I felt satisfied. A great listen.

After 21 hours of earnest listening to this engrossing novel, I am dumbfounded by the ending. It does not make any logical sense. I am very disappointed the author has such a tragic view of humanity. I don't understand how a story full of love and caring for humans and animals alike comes to such a cold and evil end. Turns out there are no good guys or bad guys just death and no resolutions. The novel's end is in poor taste.

This book is set in the present and the tale will scare the ordinary person into wanting to start preparing for the end of our nation. I found it fascinating and a good primer for how to prepare/survive in the event the end does come. The narrator was great in expressing the feelings and emotions of the characters. I cried several times during the reading. Excellent! Will definitely see the movie if and when it comes out!
