"Insightful with crisp wit"
Yes, this is a story that deserves a spot in anyone's library. It encourages internal and external reflections and allows for a fresh perspective with each read.
The joining of three unlikely strangers separate from the constraints of time.
Dan Stevens' performance as Sarah Lemon, a lost teenage girl seeking purpose is not only believable but commendable.
Yes, I fought the urge to rebel when the flight attendant asked for all electronics to be shut down.
Another win for Albom
"Fairy Tale, Family Mystery, & Inspiration in One"
Yes. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. This story was hard to walk away from. Intertwining tales of history, fantasy, and mystery, from the voices of strong but very different women, reveal secrets and motives that evoke emotion and thought. This story touches upon the love of family, friendship, and romance. It brings to light the importance of recognizing the past, but living in the present.
My favorite aspect of this story was the descriptive and engaging writing style. The writing reminded me of my favorite British classics. The care shown in character development and the particular voice given to children made it easy to feel for these ladies.
My favorite scenes were from the hidden garden: the laughter and play of children, the moments of recognition it evoked in a 65 year old, the love it sparked in a middle-aged widow. The garden tied up the loose ends and brought the mystery to light.
The beginning of the book was nice enough, but what grabbed my attention was the scene where Cassandra is told of her Grandmother's secret by her Great Aunts over tea. This secret intrigued me the same way it did Cassandra, and I was lost in the tale.
I'm going to find more Kate Morton treasures.
"You won't want to put it down"
Yes!!! It was unique and enchanting.
I truly cared about these characters. My favorite was the heroine Alienna, a strong spirited modern day woman in medieval England.
The narrator adds texture to the characters. His voice draws the reader into the story.
I couldn't put it down.
This is a story for everyone
